2018 Alabama saw the following players drafted in the first round:
Tua Tagovailoa
Mac Jones
Josh Jacobs
Najee Harris
Jerry Jeudy
Henry Ruggs III (RIP to his victim)
Jaylen Waddle
DeVonta Smith
Jonah Williams
Jedrick Wills
Alex Leatherwood
Quinnen Williams
Patrick Surtain II
And that's not even counting players such as Damien Harris, Jalen Hurts, and Christian Barmore who were drafted in later rounds and who are all currently rocking it for their respective teams. That was a super talented team that had the most dominant regular season of any team in modern SEC history.

2011 LSU was a great team but 2006 LSU was much more balanced especially once Les let Jimbo cook. That 2006 team was hot at the end of the season. Destroyed ND in the sugar bowl.

2016 Bama…2016 Clemson was just more stacked
2016 Clemson wasn't anything special. Alabama got screwed by the refs all game. Clemson runs 99 plays without a single offensive penalty? The game winning touchdown was a illegal pick play. Bama was dominating that game until Scarborough went down.
Clemson loss to Pitt. Needed NC State to miss a game winning field goal at the end of the game, so Clemson could win in overtime. Clemson also almost lost to Auburn and Troy.
If it wasn't for the Tampa screwjob by the refs, Bama wins that game easily.

2004 would have been one hell of a playoff:
1. USC vs 4. Texas
2. Oklahoma vs 3. Auburn
The only problem would have been an undefeated Utah program in the mix causing a lot of naysaying about the “true” champion, but the playoff itself would have been fun to watch.
Absolutely. I would stop short of saying Auburn would win it, but they would have put up a better fight than Oklahoma. A playoff that year might have gone down as the best overall playoff. The biggest problem would have been the aftermath of USC.

Everyone claims this but does nothing to offer any proof. It's easy to say with the benefit of hindsight that Oklahoma didn't deserve to be in that game. However, what is forgotten is the fact that there was an awful lot of hype surrounding that game - similar to the hype Texas and USC got prior to the Rose Bowl. After a quarter of play it looked like it was going to be a back and forth contest. But then Oklahoma muffed a punt which gave USC the ball deep inside Oklahoma territory. That made the score 21-7 and USC never looked back as they scored 24 points in the second period to take a 38-10 lead into the locker room.

I've seen more bama fans blame losses on injuries than any other fan base. As Bear Bryant used to say "Excuses are for losers".

I'm older than you guys I guess but I'm saying Alabama 1966 who finished behind Notre Dame and Michigan St after they played to a tie and Notre Dame would not go to a bowl game while undefeated Alabama beat Nebraska 34-7 in the Orange Bowl. Also Alabama had won the natty the 2 previous years and would have been the only 3 in a row winner ever.

No way you can prove one way or the other. I am just going by the score of the USC/Oklahoma game. It was a massacre. I don't think it is too much of a stretch to assume that Auburn would have played USC better. But it is what it is. An assumption.

I think that the 1983 Auburn team was robbed. They were the #3 team, won their bowl game, and the #1 and #2 teams lost their bowl games. Plus, they played an extremely tough SOS, one of the highest rated schedules ever I think.

This despite the fact they were outplayed on the stat sheet by Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl. Auburn won the game and were ahead 16-0 at one point, but the final score (16-13) and Auburn's overall performance in that game doesn't give me much confidence that they could have hung with USC in the Orange Bowl.

I wasn’t born yet, but hearing about this season annoys me.

1983 Auburn definitely didn't get a fair shake, however, it was a confluence of events that cost that team at least a share of the national title.
Event #1 - The so-called "Greatest Game Ever Played." The 1984 Orange Bowl between #1 Nebraska and #5 Miami is among the greatest games in college football history. Miami won it in a classic finish, batting down Nebraska's two-point play to preserve a 31-30 victory.
Event #2 - Auburn's ho-hum performance in the Sugar Bowl. The Sugar Bowl was being played at the exact same time as the Orange Bowl and so no one was watching as Auburn defeated Michigan 9-7 in a game where the Tigers trailed 7-0 at the half and had to come from behind with three second half field goals to win the game.
When you combine #3 Auburn's boring win over #8 Michigan and #5 Miami's exciting upset victory over #1 Nebraska, it's no wonder the voters failed to recognize Auburn as national champions.
