Alabama — Derrick Thomas
Our high school team chaplain (20 years ago) was an SEC tight end. I don’t remember his name.
But he told us a story once of having to block Thomas in a game. He was a big dude who was mostly used as a blocking tight end. He said he came off the line and got a clean, full shot on Thomas. Most players would get bulldozed over, but Thomas didn’t budge. He described it as hitting a brick wall, knowing that there would be nothing he could do to successfully stop Thomas from owning the line of scrimmage.

Hershel Walker on offense. Hershel was unreal in college. 1 man team.

1988 - 27 sacks (Sacks weren't officially counted for records in the NCAA until 2002, otherwise this would be the record

Career - 52 sacks
His stat line from 1988:
88 tackles, 27 sacks, 12 TFL (aside from sacks, or 39 total), 44 QBH, 2 blocked kicks, at least 1 fumble recovery (from his 5 sack game against Texas A&M).

I don’t think Emmitt Smith gets enough respect, not saying he’s better than Bo or Hershel, but he wasn’t a slouch either.
Patrick Willis was a beast on a shitty team.

He could have been the greatest if he had got to come to Auburn like he wanted instead of his momma’s job being on the line if he didn’t go to Florida

Anyone that played @ Ole Piss after 1970 was on a shitty team

Along with the innovator, the never to be duplicated Don Hutson:
Hutson, along with Coach Bryant, were Arkansas recruits snagged and brought to Tuscaloosa to play "ball" for the Tide by none-other-than Coach Hank Crisp!
