Offseason, so I figure now is as good of a time as any to do a series of threads about the Best __ in the SEC since 2006, the year the streak began.

Winners:
QB: TBD
RB: TBD
WR/TE: TBD
OL: TBD
OL (as a group): TBD
DL: TBD
DL (as a group): TBD
LB: TBD
DB: TBD
DB (as a group): TBD
K: TBD
P: TBD

This thread is just for QBs. If I actually go through with this, I'll make one every day or so for the next category. OL, DL, and DB are the only ones to also have a "as a group" option because I said so. May go back after we finish and add "as a group" for other positions.

Pick a starting QB, obviously. Account for their entire collegiate career, but that said, a guy like Cam Newton only played one season, but is certainly in the running.

Notable names:
Tim Tebow
Cam Newton
Johnny Manziel
AJ McCarron
Aaron Murray

My vote goes to Tim Tebow. It came down to Tebow, Newton, and JFF for me. I eliminated JFF because between the three, he was the only one to never win a ring. Tebow had two to Newton's one, but he wasn't a starter for the first one, though he played a lot and was a big contributor. However, Newton went unbeaten and had less talent around him, in my opinion.

It's a close call, but I vote Cam Newton.

ETA: Changed my vote from Tebow to Newton.

Pretty fair imo. I would go with Newton, but I am biased.

Agree on the qb. Cam did more with less talent and had the single most impressive season and was the most unstoppable, but Tebow was great for several season and gets the nod.

Newton was on Florida's 2008 team, so he technically has as many rings as Tebow.

I'd take Cam over everyone else. No question.

Newton was the best player in the SEC in a long, long time.

Go look at the roster around Newton compared to what Tebow had at Florida.

Only one of those QB's has a Heisman, was a 2X All-American and has 2 NC rings. I'll go with him.

Newton for me. It is a tough one between Tebow and Newton, but if I was drafting a team and it was between them, I'd go Newton.

You put Tebow on Auburn's 2010 team and Cam as the starter on Florida's 2008 team, Newton would still probably have better numbers, and that's what it came down to for me. Newton didn't have a Percy Harvin. The casual fan of CFB couldn't probably name many players on Auburn's championship team besides Fairley and maybe a couple of others. Newton had less talent surrounding him and Gene Chizik as opposed to one of the best coaches in the game in CUM.

I'd go with Newton. And I hate to say that.

so you include AJ McCarron but not Ryan Mallet or Tyler Wilson both were better. Maybe we are talking good hander offers and I'm confused but the rest of the list is valid
