And he is still better than Gus.

He has been in shite conferences. He will get eaten alive trying to throw the ball 60 times a game in this conference. he doesn't even try to run the ball.

Miss state he should have much better athletes and get alot more out of the qb.
better athletes than WSU, yes. better athletes than the teams he plays, no. He's still going to be at a huge disadvantage, just in a different conference. Same story, different school/conference. People seem to always use this excuse with him and he's been in the same boat for 18 years and will continue to be at State. If talent was the only thing holding him back, major programs would have been interested in hiring him by now. If his press conferences weren't entertaining, he wouldn't be nearly as lauded on this board.

Leach can coach. He took over a resurgent Tech program during the B12’s heyday years & took them several levels up. They went straight back down after his departure.
Ask aggy, Leach owned them.

You have zero idea what it's like to defend a team that throws the ball 60 times per game like he does (much less anybody else).

He lost to OU by some really absurd score like 63-14 the week after his big Texas win. And he lost to a 7-5 or 8-4 Ole Miss team in the Cotton Bowl after the year.

Exactly. So what if he got Washington State to the only 11 win season in the 102 year history of the program.
So what if he got Washington State to the AP top 10 for only the 6th time in program history.
Question...what is the best 4 year stretch in the history of Washington State football? I would say it was the two stints from the late '20s to early 30's when they won 32 games. Outside of that, it would be 2015-2018...when they won 37 games in 4 years, . The most wins they had in a 4 year stretch prior to that was 2001-2004 when they won 35 games.
Here are the best 4 year stints (total wins) in program history (and the Head Coach during that time):
2015-2018 - 37 (Leach)
2001-2004 - 35 (Mike Price)
2016-2019 - 34 (Leach)
2000-2003 - 34 (Price)
1929-1932 - 32 (O.E. Hollingbery)
1928-1931 - 32 (O.E. Hollingbery)
Those are the only 4 year stretches in which the program has won over 30 games...ever.

The Big 12 from 1999-2009 when he was there absolutely was NOT a shite conference. That's an idiotic take.

I’m not sure he has a desire to recruit.
This isn’t a bad hire, though.
He’ll put butts in the seats and footballs in the air.

And look at all the fame and success from Price and Hollingbery
They must have won tons of SEC titles
Never heard of them

He was 55-47 at Wazzu.
And 52-38 after his first year.
ETA: Just realized you meant in conference. My bad

Let’s ignore the 11-2 record he had in 2018. And WSU is hard as hell to win at and recruit to. It’s MSU/Vandy without the SEC allure and talent rich state to recruit in

Similar to the numbers I ran for Washington State...let's do the same for Texas Tech...
Best 4 year stretch (based on number of wins), and head coach at the time:
2007-2010 - 37 (Leach)
2006-2009 - 37 (Leach)
2005-2008 - 37 (Leach)
2004-2007 - 34 (Leach)
2002-2005 - 34 (Leach)
2008-2011 - 33 (Leach/Tuberville)
1973-1976 - 33 (Jim Carlen/Steve Sloan)
2003-2006 - 33 (Leach)
1938-1941 - 33 (Pete Cawthon)
1937-1940 - 32 (Cawthon)
2001-2004 - 32 (Leach)
2000-2003 - 31 (Leach)
1972-1975 - 31 (Carlen)
1970-1973 - 31 (Carlen)
2009-2012 - 30 (Leach/Tuberville)
Those are the 4 year stretches in which Texas Tech has won 30 games or more. Mike Leach was HC during 10 of the 15 in the entire history of the program.
