Why is it as you get older you can remember a mumblypeg game from your childhood but can not remember what you had for breakfast?

I thought with the season starting that the quality of threads on this forum would improve. Seems like the quality is actually getting worse.

Ah yes.. the 10-1 Alabama team that lost to Texas.
Hell, the issue was so egregious that the AP changed how they awarded champions.
1964 is one of the fake Alabama titles.

Dang, you guys still mad about 1975?
Aggy was undefeated and ranked #2 going into their last game against Arkansas. Arkansas won 31-6 and because that forced a three way tie with texas the tie and breaker went to Arkansas who went to the cotton bowl and beat Georgia.
aggy went to the liberty bowl and lost to unranked so cal, 7-5 to finish up 10-2 on the season. That was the closest they have been to a championship in somewhat modern times.
This is the aggy I grew up knowing and it’s the same today. This is why I get pissed when we lose to them because it should never happen.
That being said, we’ll both see where we stand come Saturday.

Bama was 10-0 though.
And then y'all shite the bed the very next season when the AP waited until after the bowls.

I guess poll titles were only fake in 1964.

1939 was just 6 years after FDR said "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself" and yet here you are posting a thread full of fear.
Mods should have shut down the thread after this one got thrown out there
Might need to close the A&M board permanently, too.

Nope, that would be Oklahoma.
Also, Alabama was the champion in 1964.
AP/Coaches/BCS/CFP or it never happened.

FWAA and 6 other outlets at the time selected Arkansas as the National Champion.
NCAA also recognizes Arkansas in 1964.
1964 Records:
Alabama 10-1(Lost to Texas)
Arkansas 11-0(Beat Texas)
Seems pretty simple to me.

Oklahoma got destroyed by Arkansas 31-6 in the Orange Bowl.

I don't recall an Arkansas loss to 8&4feit that actually cost Arkansas anything of significance. HOWEVER, several 8&4feit losses to Arkansas certainly cost aggy.
1975 comes to mind when an undefeated and 2nd ranked aggy rolled into War Memorial Stadium in LR and took a 31-6 arse whipping, costing them not just the SWC championship and a Cotton Bowl berth (a huge deal at the time) but also a likely shot at a NC. 1988 and 1989 come to mind when losses to Arkansas also cost SWC championships though the overall records (7-5 and 8-4 (how fitting)) were horrendous. The losses were OOC but still left aggy in a position to win the SWC.
