Stetson Bennett threw 4 first half touchdowns in the SECCG and then 4 passes total in the second half.

Wouldn't trade Kirby for any coach in the country, but if there was ever a time to take the stick out of his arse it would've been last Saturday. If Bennett ends up with 6 or 7 touchdown passes in the conference championship game, the voters might've just given him the Heisman, considering the fact that no other Heisman contender stepped up last weekend.

Dawgs under are a selfless bunch. Have heard several experts allude to this. Players play for each other. It's a great environment for success and sending players to the NFL.

Heisman is the most overrated award in sports. I honestly couldn’t care less. If you want to win a Heisman go play for Lincoln Riley and throw for a million yards just don’t expect to win any championships

That's true enough, but if you bet 25 dollars to win 2,000 back in August, you wouldn't want to hear that shite right now. I'm still marginally pissed lol.

This thread makes me think about another consideration.

Let's say Stetson does win the Heisman. When was the last time a QB won the Heisman, but lost the Davey O'Brien. Could see this scenario potentially playing out.

He is only in the race by default. Nowhere close to being the best player on the team.

This seems to have happened in all of our ranked games.

Only some vols aren’t smart enough to understand it.

The Heisman is a weird thing and Georgia is very early in its run.

Honestly, the reason Georgia hasn’t had anyone get the attention yet is that they’ve plowed through the regular season lately. Stupid Heisman voters are always looking for that “moment”. Hard to have that moment when you’re just consistently good.

As long as Georgia is in its current position at the top of the heap and with Kirby and staff killing it in recruiting, it’ll happen.

I'd be interested in seeing the stats on how many Heisman trophy winners didn't also win their position award. I'd have to assume you can count them on 1 hand.

That was a tough call with Lamar Jackson and Deshaun Watson.

Personally I think Watson was better overall. But really, who cares?

You should think that. He's not the best or most valuable player in college football... he's not even close. There are probably 20 QBs in the country who could take UGA to a title.

Swap the QBs is the SECCG and UGA still walks all over LSU.

Jalen Carter is the best player in the country.
An injury for most of the season hampered his ability to show the country all season, though.

Stetson is the most important player on the offense by far.

Our leading receiver is a 3 star slot receiver.
Our 3rd leading pass catcher is a running back that no one knows.
3 running backs with 500+ yards and 6+ rushing TDs.

Stetson throws for 3 TDs in the first half against Michigan in the orange Bowl and 4 TDs in the first half of the SECCG against LSU, and everyone is wondering why he threw for 0 touchdowns against Auburn in the 42-10 win.
(Because in the big games when we need him, the mailman delivers. I.e. 2 TDs in the 4th quarter of the NCG while going 4-4 with another PI)

What a dolt. Flamer post.

It's a team game and that little fricker wins ball games and CC's.

He will be a back-to-back champ soon.

SEC Legend.

Definitely a selfless team culture that Kirby has created. It's great for championships but bad for individual accolades. Awards go to the positive extremes, but if you have balance, that isn't as widely recognized.

3 former 5 stars have failed to beat out Stetson Bennett as the starter.

Just food for thought.

We’ve had two Butkus Award winners, a Thorpe winner, a Bednarik winner, an Outland winner, a Lou Groza Winner

I agree but Bryce Young wasn’t the best player on his team last season, either.

(I am not making a case for him to get the Heisman)

Seriously, who cares about Heismans if you are winning championships? Bryce winning it last season was great for him and our program, but when thinking about the 2021 season the first things that will come to mind are 1. Lost NC game 2. Won SECCG 3. Bryce won Heisman.
