Beginning next year is 9-3 the benchmark for a successful season?

It almost assures you of a playoff spot. Is that enough to keep all fanbases content or will the big name teams still be disappointed?

Yep
It’s the new 11-1 just a few years ago

Depends. 9-3 and you then you win 2 or 3 playoff games? Sure, that’s a really solid season.
9-3 and you get bounced by a big 12 team in the first round? Not so much. Still a playoff appearance, but if you don’t do anything with it. . . .
For the record, I hate this new format.

No because fans are stupid and refuse to note that CFB games are literally like watching NFl games now and some weeks your team is going to look great and some weeks they’ll loook bad. No one is immune to it. Ohio State is lucky not to be looking at 2 losses prior to November, Georgia is lucky not to be looking at 2 losses pre November. Indiana is lucky not to have 3 losses. Truth is there’s not a team in CFB that can’t be beat by a good p4 team in any game.

I agree. That’s why I think 9-3 in the SEC is successful going forward. It’s not a gimme for anybody anymore. Especially playing 9 conference games.
The schedule is going to be so important. It already is but even more so going forward.

Yep.
Sometimes the mark might even be as low as 8-4.

8-4 with a 5-4 SEC record will get playoff spots in 27. It might create watch parties for selections with 8-4 SEC/Big 10 and 9-3 ACC/Big 12 teams like with March Madness selection.

That ratio works in the NFL.

Yep. Welcome to parity in college football and the days of limited depth. Your second stringers are getting paid to play somewhere else.

Agreed.
BCS era it was 11-1 or bust. Early playoff era it was 10-2 and starting next year it will be 9-3

Yup
Constant lowering of the bar
Good news for Bama fans, Kalen should be around for a long time

That is a maybe. Could be 4-5 teams in SEC with that record and you might not get invited to the party. I think 10-2 is a lock though.

9-3 regular season is successful
Early exits in the playoffs = coaching hot seats

You think 10-2 in the SEC is a lock for a 24 team playoff?
Any more insights, Nostradamus?

It’s starting to look like this season 9-3 is darn good

For LSU it always has been.
