A lot of teams have one.
Rangers have their Double A in Frisco.
Truthfully the ballpark in SugarLand is a glorified high school stadium.

I am not the one pushing some trashy ballpark as if it was first class.
aggy has no say in the SEC. Deal with it

I think the idea was to move double A to Sugarland and Triple A to Corpus Christi. That was the logic by whoever pushed the stadium. That wouldn’t ever work. Nobody is going to a Double A game when a 30-45 minute drive gets you to Minute Maid Park.

The SEC baseball tourney is in Hoover because it is the easiest for the most people WHO ACTUALLY ATTEND, end of story.
This is a weird hill to die on.
Hypothetically, moving it could get other people to attend. It would fill up in a Texas location. I assume the same can be said for hosting it in Memphis.
TD Park in Omaha is downtown. There’s not a ton of parking immediately around. But guess what? The place fills up, even for the early game.
Your argument is that Hoover is convenient for the people that go. No shite...it’s probably inconvenient for the people that don’t go. If you move it to Memphis, you might get a different crowd. There’s an entertainment district within walking distance to the park, and excellent food/drink options.

Braves have a minor league team in the Atlanta area.
Rangers have their team in Frisco
All California teams have minor league clubs near by.
I can look even closer and probably find more.
What happened is that Corpus came up with the money to build a state of the art ballpark.
Nolan Ryan who is from the Corpus area supported the idea. I believe his family owns the team.
Plus in gave Corpus something down town that was a big open wetland next to the USS Lexington Museum.

Gwinnett was dead last in attendance in the International League last year. They were 91st in all of affiliated baseball.

I think this works because Frisco is one of the fastest growing cities in America. That location was perfect for that club. I’m not sure that would have been duplicated in Sugarland. That park is nice, but in a development of apartment complexes.

Angels
Triple A - Salt Lake City
Double A - Mobile
High A - San Bernardino, CA
Dodgers
Triple A - OKC
Double A - Tulsa
High A - Rancho Cucamonga, CA
Padres
Triple A - El Paso
Double A - Amarillo
High A - Lake Elsinore, CA
Giants
Triple A - Sacramento
Double A - Richmond, VA
High A - San Jose
A’s
Triple A - Vegas
Double A - Midland, TX
High A - Stockton, CA
California League is the only league encroaching on MLB territory in that state with Sacramento as the only possible exception. The population is so big in the Bay Area, or in SoCal, that they can get away with a nearby A ball team. Those teams don’t need to average more than just a couple thousand. That’s still a big gap from Triple A expectations. Driving time in CA is also terrible. It’s more than 45 min from those High A parks to the MLB affiliates.

They sold to the Astros a few years back. Unfortunately the atmosphere is a bit more corporate now. Downtown CC is starting to turn a corner. The harbor bridge beyond center field will be coming down soon. The new bridge is going to be amazing, but will be seen out of the left field area instead.

1. I go to the SEC Ty every year. When I was working, just Friday thru Sunday but now Tuesday thru Sunday.
2. I am sick of Hoover. Wait 'til you guys see the traffic this year on top of all the road construction on HWY150. The stadium is a dump and no hotels within walking distance.
3. There are NOT thousands of RV's in Hoover. 200 maybe? Maybe 3-5% of those attending arrive in an RV and that might be high.
4. I have toured many of the suggested parks. Autozone in Memphis is BY FAR the nicest. We should at least rotate it there occasionally.

Nobody gives a frick about the SEC baseball tournament anyway. Even the schools who love baseball.
It doesn't matter unless you're a team with no other option to make the NCAA tournament.
That said, having it in a fixed location is fricking stupid. It would be like having the gymnastics championships in the same city year after year. I'm not sure if we do that, but if we do, its stupid.

So, the justification for that dump is like 400-600 people. In RVs.
Move it to Memphis and you'd gain 5,000 people who've never attended the SEC baseball tournament, just from the additional Ole Miss and Arkansas fans.

I vote for the obvious neutral ground of Arvest Ballpark in Springdale, Arkansas.
This would be great for Mizzou fans who are big supporters of the sport. And look at all that RV PARKING!!1

Nobody except the dummies in the County who funded the stadium care. The Braves sure don't.
The Braves want to be able to shuttle a guy down and bring a guy up at 11 AM and have him at SunTrust Park by 3 PM. That's it. That's what matters. That's why the AAA team is in Lawrenceville now and not Richmond, VA.

If New Orleans had a baseball park next to the Superdome, it would be a no brainer, even with having to put up with all the LSU fans. Unfortunately, that's not the case.

Shrine on Airline has already been mentioned a few times.

The Braves are having a real problem with their AAA team in Atlanta, ha ha. I don't get the Astros reason for this, as it is very nice to shuttle players up and down, when needed.
