From 1967-1970, Bryant went 14-11 in SEC play. He considered offers from AFL/NFL teams because the pressure was mounting. He decided to stay at Alabama, changed his offense, and proceeded to have one of the most dominant runs college football has ever seen.

I don't understand why LSU is about to fire a man who has won over 100 football games, a pair of SEC titles, and a national championship during his tenure.

You really don't understand why LSU is about to make this mistake?

Right. Who would have ever guessed that the fanbase that empties the stadium in the third quarter would ever do something impatient?

All we heard from the mouth breathers on this board for the past 3 years is how Miles is barely a mediocre coach.

Now you same people are calling LSU crazy for wanting to make a change and comparing him to Bear Bryant?

This place has officially gone full fricking retard.

Don't really foresee Les doing this. Call me crazy, but I don't think he's as good as Bear Bryant

No. All you heard was that Chavis was your best coach and Joe Allegra fricked it up.

Didn't he go into rehab before he changed his offense?

Ask yourself if you feel confident in the hiring decisions of Joe Allegra.

No one is doing that. I was simply saying that Bryant, considered to be the greatest coach in the history of college football, was not infallible and fell into slumps just like the rest of them.

Anyone who thinks Les Miles is a mediocre coach doesn't understand football. He may have benefited from Saban's cache of talent in his first two or three years, but the man kept it going well into this decade. 2014 was a sub-par year and 2015 is turning out to be similar, but the man had four straight 10+ win seasons before that.

Idk, but he was 20-5-1 against LSU. Ouch.

Don't need to, and that isn't relevant here.

Post 1/9/12 up until this past Saturday Miles was a barely functioning retard with a good heart, but now he's the best available option and being compared to Bear Bryant.

I'll say it again, this place has finally reached maximum retard potential.

Miles had many chances to do this, but wouldn't. And are you seriously comparing Les Miles to Bear Bryant? I mean, I know y'all over in Alabama would love to see him stick around, but get real.

This is the exact opposite narrative of 98% of non-LSU fans for the last 3 years.

It's hilarious to sit back and watch the knee-jerk reactions of this board. It's a sight to behold.

It was more than just offense. Bryant recognized that a certain era and type of player that dominated that era was over.

He not only went to Texas and learned about the wishbone, he changed his entire staff, began recruiting entirely different type players, changed his recruitment evaluations, sat some players he had committed to, advanced others, began playing black players.

Keep in mind that he was probably the foremost expert in the passing game at the time... yet he switched entirely to the bone. He was honest about the evolution of the game, far sighted, and flexible.

Is Miles any of that?
