With Arkie at #3 - LSU will fall to 3. The upsets today hurt you guys worse than you think. No room now for error.
LSU could make it to the SEC championship game, lose, and still play for it all. It's a loss to Arkansas that is dangerous.

Only 10 members in that POS conference now.

Sorry...but you're wrong.....If ARky beats LSU, LSU will not fall to 3 in the BCS. It's actually nearly impossible given the computer rankings.
100% of voters would have to put LSU at 3, which will not happen.
LSU will likely be at 3 in the two human polls, but they don't go by the ranking, they go by votes (which will be spread out among LSU/Bama/Arky)....The computers will decide where LSU is ranked in the BCS.

That would be impossible I believe. Can't have three teams from the same conference in the BCS.
they can if one of the teams is playing for the national champ game int he same conference that isn't in the conference champion which would be the case in that secenerio
it's the only way you can have 3 teams from the same conference in the BCS

Ithink some people in this thread aren't familiar with the SEC tiebreaker (and more specifically the BCS forumula and the computers).
If Arky beats LSU, most people don't realize that the most likely scenario is that LSU still goes to Atlanta. LSU has a commanding lead in the computers, and even if the human polls drop LSU to 3rd, LSU would still be 2nd in the BCS....thus it comes down to head-to-head between LSU and Bama....LSU goes to Atlanta.

I cannot believe a voter will put Okie State anywhere near the top 3 with a loss to Iowa State. No way.

So LSU is going to the SECCG no matter what?

What choice do they have right now? Who goes over Oklahoma St?

Oklahoma State is done. Stop talking about them.

If Arky blew out LSU they would be out of it.

barring a 30 point loss to Arkansas, yes..

Yup, there's no telling how the human votes would come down if that happened. ANY combination of Bama, LSU, Arky 1-2-3 would be possible.
Could leave any of the 3 out of the big game.

if arknasas beats lsu, and bama is number 2 and lsu is 3, then bama goes to the SECCG because of the head to head
if Arkansas beats lsu and lsu is the number 2, arknasas goes to the SEC becuase of the head to head.
guys it's not that complicated.

A #4 ranked 1-loss team with their next game against a top-10 opponent is never out of it. It's a LOT less likely than it was though.

So Alabama needs a LSU win if they want to play in the MNC?
Posted on 11/19/11 at 11:53 pm to DesignatedT
Yes..it appears that barring Arkansas throttling LSU, LSU will win the 3-way tiebreaker.
The ONLY way LSU couldn't win the three-way tiebreaker if practically all human voters put LSU at 3, which won't happen if it's a close game.
And FWIW, on this same topic, it is actually impossible at this point for Arkansas to win the 3-way tiebreaker. They could certainly get in the BCSCG with a win, but they have no shot at making it Atlanta by virtue of the 3-way tie....It is impossible for it to end up Arky/LSU (in any order) ...Bama in the BCS.
