Ranking the programs based on NCAA Tourney success since 1999:

(There is a formula I’m using here)

Rank. Team (NCAA / SR / CWS / NC)- Points

1. LSU (23 / 17 / 10 / 4)- 269
2. Texas (23 / 14 / 12 / 2)- 209
3. Oregon State (19 / 10 / 7 / 3)- 193
4. Miami (24 / 13 / 8 / 2)- 176
5. S Carolina (20 / 14 / 6 / 2)- 164
6. Florida (24 / 12 / 10 / 1)- 159
7. Vanderbilt (20 / 10 / 5 / 2)- 149
8. Cal St Fullerton (21 / 14 / 9 / 1)- 147
9. Virginia (19 / 9 / 7 / 1)- 123
10. Florida St (26 / 18 / 8)- 122
11. N. Carolina (24 / 13 / 9)- 119
12. Rice (19 / 10 / 6 / 1 )- 116
13. Stanford (18 / 14 / 9)- 115
14. Miss St (19 / 11 / 5 / 1)- 113
15. Ole Miss (21 / 9 / 5 / 1)- 109
16. Arkansas (24 / 11 / 8)- 104
17. Arizona (16 / 6 / 5 / 1)- 100
18. UCLA (18 / 7 / 4 / 1)- 97
19. Tennessee (10 / 7 / 5 / 1)- 94
20. Oklahoma (18 / 6 / 3 / 1)- 88
21. Coastal C (21 / 4 / 2 / 1)- 80
22. Texas A&M (20 / 10 / 5)- 77
22. Louisville (15 / 10 / 6)- 77
24. TCU (18 / 8 / 6)- 76
25. Clemson (23 / 10 / 4)- 71

Other SEC:

26. Georgia(13 / 6 / 5)- 62
34. Auburn (15 / 6 / 2)- 41
34. Alabama (17 / 5 / 2)- 41
48. Kentucky (9 / 3 / 1)- 22
74. Missouri (8 / 1)- 10

Fresno State is the only National Champion not in the Top 25. They’ve only made the tournament 11 times and have just a single trip to Omaha. They come in at #27 though based on the national title.

So what is the formula? How many points for each? Obviously only measuring success based on the NCAA tournament. I guess the regular season doesn’t matter at all.

Oklahoma just further proved as much.

Everyone likes these lists until you say the formula, and then the whiny Arkansas fans unload on the list once the formula is revealed.

Not sure how Ole Miss and MSU would have the same CWS score. Feels like MSU has been to Omaha way more than 3 times since '99.

That's just because they don't understand the formula.

Good list!

1. LSU
2. Texas

We have made Omaha three times since 1999.

They always drop the ball on the math.

I mean since 1999, Tennessee has done more in the postseason than Ole Miss.

Super Regionals
Tennessee: 7
Ole Miss: 9

Omaha
Tennessee: 5
Ole Miss: 3

Natties
Tennessee: 1
Ole Miss: 1

2 more CWS appearances should trump making the NCAA tournament more often, especially if you are ranking purely on NCAA tourney success and not just participation.

While I would love to have their level of success, it must be really rough to get that far THAT many times and still never win it.

They updated the rankings and Florida lost 100 points for having a home wrecking coach who ruins families. Their new score of 59 drops them below Georgia but above Auburn.
