Do most CFB fields have this? Was talking with a few guys tonight who work with the field crew about putting a tarp on the field until a certain point and he said they don’t do that. He said there are aerators under the field and a gap between the grass and the drains. I looked it up and it says this:

Bryant-Denny Stadium features a natural grass field managed with the SubAir Sport System for subsurface drainage and aeration rather than a physical weather tarp covering the playing surface.

The guys were saying it will be almost dry at kickoff if the rain has quit by that time.

Bama’s field is top notch technology, there will be no issues at kickoff

Yep, best in the country. Unlike JHS (where they will even water theirs down), BDS should be completely dry by game time. Eliminating injuries for both teams and maximizing football play

If the drainage and traction on the field tomorrow night is good, could be excellent advertising for the company. Huge game and all…

It’s the same type of sub air system used on high end golf courses on the greens.

We want it wet and sloppy.

Cage match in the mud.

Bring it.

Their site said it’s used in several professional stadiums. I wonder how many pro and college stadiums have it?

We spend millions on self drying grass.

There’s a Bama standard and then there’s everybody else.

Downvote me.

You're afraid to play in the mud.

You are Primma Donnas.

That's really cute

You should familiarize yourself with the 2015 game

Bama's come up with a number of innovations throughout the years.

I mean the medical tent which is used in multiple sports besides football and at different levels (at the highest even see NFL) was completely originated at The University of Alabama.

Also other sports medical professionals at the highest level are in the state of Alabama. Very proud of our state

I even hear Auburn has a great veterinary program (probably the best in the country ) as well though you could argue they are more in western Georgia than eastern Alabama

Auburn’s field can drain 18 inches of rain an hour. Tarps are not needed.

The best grass in the world and I think most of the natural grass for football is grown in Baldwin county.

If true, that's impressive.

But I've seen plenty of extra wet grass at JHS when it didn't need to be. See Iron Bowl 2015.

Nope. But it can drain water. Active rain is different than rain that quit an hour earlier.
