Worst wet field I’ve ever seen was the 2010 National Championship game in Scottsdale. Both Auburn and Oregon’s players were slipping on it. No sharp cuts. And it was indoors. So humid that coaches pants were soaked about 6” up their legs. Ridiculous.

Not too long ago, someone was able to get their vehicle inside Sanford Stadium over night and do donuts all over the field (before the TN game, I believe).

They had to patch it together the next morning and water it, so the field was terrible.

I think we lost.

Do most CFB fields have this?

No. I believe it’s the same, or similar, to what Augusta has. I didn’t know Bama had that. Impressive, and they don’t have to overseed in their colder winters.

LSU installed a natural gravity drainage subsystem a few years back. They can drain 13 to 16 inches of rain per hour. Bama’s vacuum SubAir system will drain 15 to 20+ inches of rain per hour.

We spend millions on self drying grass.

There’s a Bama standard and then there’s everybody else.

Back to back 4-loss seasons is setting one hell of a standard!

Worst surface I ever saw. Auburn over sanded the field. The players said it was like playing on the beach. Remember watching warmups and sand being kicked up
