.

Uh, yeah they are. Alabama has won the same amount of titles in the last 4 years as LSU has in its entire history.

It's been a long time since that 2-loss NC back in 2007, and imo you don't even belong in the discussion with Alabama at this point

Same deal with 11/5. It was proven on 1/9. Bama didn't show up to play on 11/5, and when they did show up they shut LSU out.

imho that's definitely wrong until we're soundly beating them in games year in and year out.

Your problem is that you seem to misunderstand the concept of the "dynasty" that people are talking about. It's not about 2012 only and the three close games Alabama played. Nobody is saying Alabama is unbeatable - that's obviously not true.

The point is the sustained success since 2008 (or 2009 if you want to start with the first of the three recent national titles) really out shines anyone else. Sure in given years there are teams that can beat Alabama, but the alleged "dynasty" is about the historic level accomplishments over this period of time that do, in fact, distance Alabama quite a bit from all other programs right now.

Being a dynasty doesn't mean that you are far and away better than every team every year.

I see what you are saying, and I will agree that LSU isnt that far behind us. We are just way more consistent. But the gap between the top teams in the SEC and the rest of the nation is LARGE. and we just happen to be on top of the SEC, and have made an impressive 5 year run.

I just don't understand the butthurt here. Yeah…we could have very easily lost 3 games in the regular season, but we won 2 of those 3 close games and ended up winning a national championship.

If not for the wackiest Week 15 in the history of college football, LSU's last national championship team would be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

Sometimes things happen that go your way and put you in position to win the whole thing. Similar things happened to Alabama in all 1992 and 2009, years where we went undefeated.

To this good sir, I say, "Roll Tide!"

Doesn't matter. Bama was "nearly" undefeated in 2011 too.

Check out the entire body of work from 09-present and compare that with every other program during the same time frame.

How "far ahead" do they have to be?

This is 100% correct, and should be the end of the thread.

And the difference is gameday management and playcalling. Period.

And 2003 LSU needed their fair share of breaks too. Remember, Hawaii losing to Boise State gave them the edge they needed in the computers to propel them ahead of USC in the BCS rankings. If Hawaii had beaten Boise State, LSU would have been shut out and probably been playing in the Orange Bowl instead.

I think you can toss in the psychological preparedness too, for real.

true but think of it like this. LEAST talented team of the Saban era and they still walk away with a NC and the Florida thing doesn't fly anymore.

In the SEC you are at risk of losing 2-3 games every year no matter how good you are. Which makes this 3/4 Bama dynasty thing all the more impressive.
Also remember that just as easily as Bama could have lost 3 games this year, they could have been 11-1 in 2010 and played for the SECC and NC. Also were 1 quarter away in 2008 from playing in the BCSNCG. It slices both ways, Bama has been incredible the last 5 years and are in the hunt every year, which is what sets them apart from everyone else. It's the consistency year in and year out.

Ehh, Les is a pretty good motivator. They get fired up for him. Problem is, the offense trots out on the field with all that adrenaline and proceeds to look like Paris Hilton trying to solve a math problem.

No, I dig that Les is a great motivator... but we got that guy Dr Elko, and it's totally legit shite they do to make those kids minds get in the right spot before each game and during each season with constant themes that make sense. I think he even sort of identifies each team's diff tendencies and sort of caters to it. Seems like it could be just voodoo, but w/e it is... it works.

But, I'm pretty sure Bryant didn't do that and most coaches don't... and it's worked out for plenty of others. So, maybe it's just like... my opinion maaaaaaaaan. But i've heard Elko speak a few times, and i TOTALLY 'get' what he does.

So you're saying there's a chance?
