I guess when you're the HC at Alabama you can make that call. Saban will handle this one
I would think the university probably has rules in place regarding matters like this that would trump the coach.
Does anyone know what Alabama school policy is towards students if this does turn into a felony charge?

They are not innocent.
Take the Bama shirt off for a minute.
I didn't say they were.
Based on what we know thus far, I don't think they are innocent. In fact, I think they've both played their last snap for Alabama and quite possibly their last snap of organized football.
My opinion has nothing to do with a Bama shirt or any fan allegiance. If the search function were better, I'd tell you to search my past posts every time something like this happens regardless of the teams involved. Suspend them from team activities, sure but you can't undo a dismissal. Mob rule and knee jerk reactions are how you end up with (in the most extreme situations) a Duke LaCrosse case. It isn't too much to ask that you actually know the facts before you execute the condemned.....

Nick Saban may be an incredible coach and recruiter, but he's an awful disciplinarian for players and their issues.

If its a felony charge they will be gone for sure.

Hootie gone. Cam wrist slap. End of story
That would be really bad, considering Cam Rob's charges are more severe than Hootie's.

I don't care about the drug part unless they were dealing. The guns I have a huuuuuuuuuuuuge problem with. If Saban keeps these guys I will be disappointed. Not the normal boys will be boys bullshite.

This is crazy. So much to look forward to and want to do stupid shite.

Same reason other morons college students want to have guns and pass laws allowing them to walk around campus with them.
Right, students who want to obey the law and legally carry a legal weapon to defend themselves against--frankly--guys like this who are wanna-be gangsters with stolen weapons, are the dumb ones. Ok.

The point was more in regards to the other three players who were kicked off at the same time and didn't make it back, one who would probably have been more needed than Pettway at that time in the program.

Because we can all stop pretending CFB isn't a big business. Cam is a big asset, Hootie is expendable. That simple.
You're an idiot. I couldn't disagree more.
Right now Cam has the more serious charges. Unless there are prior arrests that we don't know about, he certainly won't be getting lighter punishment.

Somebody forgot to tell those boys that the Tuscaloosa Police Department jurisdiction only runs to the Mississippi line.

One aspect that will play into whether they get kicked off or stay - is somewhat related to what we are doing now. All of the social media - this shite is already running wild. Not defending them for what they possibly did, damn sure not defending them for being dumb asses, but yeah they have a right to trial by a jury of their peers, shite - the trial is happening right now.
Lets say Saban does not kick them off - and is going to wait until the legal process plays out - no matter what, program is slammed - saban soft on the stars, sweeping under the rug, thug U and so on. When the way things are supposed to happen - the whole innocent until proven guilty thing is just an afterthought. This shite hit the boards what a couple of hours ago - and it is already up to 30 plus pages, and all of us are lying if we do not want some sort of alabama decision before the close of the business day.

It's not just Saban, this is big business. Shall we rehash some of Auburn's dirty laundry? Nobody--outside of maybe Mark Richt--has moral high ground here. Especially not your team.

I understand and believe that he is sincere in his belief that kicking kids off the team does them no good, and giving them second and third chances to fix it gives them a chance to get on the right path.
However, I just don't agree with him that those things have to happen at Alabama. Unfortunately I think I know how this situation is going to end, and it will end with both guys staying and Saban getting prickly at a press conference about it.

I support ghey rights, but not while breaking the law with controlled substance and a stolen gun. They might like to play rough with one another, I don't know what turns kids on these days?

Read the post I was responding to.
"Why would these kids even want guns, legal or illegal?"

I am honestly not that surprised Hootie was involved in something like this, but Cam Robinson seemed like a semi-intelligent kid who kept his nose out of trouble.
Even if Cam leaves Bama, a school like McNeese or something will welcome him with open arms and he'll still be drafted, albeit not as high.
Damn shame for these kids though. What a stupid thing to do all around. It's not hard or very expensive to get a legal gun and smoke pot in private residence, not your car in a public park.
