Isn't 1st offense felony stolen firearm automatic jail time in La?

This will get swept under the rug by the SEC and Alabama. You are all kidding yourselves if you think that the SEC will allow their favorite to get in any trouble.

I just don't get celebrating this stuff. Same with injuries. Oh well.
Celebrating injuries is a despicable act.

1st offense poss. of stolen firearm in Louisiana is jail time, 1-5yrs. Now throw in weed ol boys gettin time
How many people spend 1-5 years in jail for their first arrest for a non-violent crime? I would bet it is very close to 0. 1-5 years in jail with a suspended sentence while on supervised probation = 0 jail time. Some of you guys are trying way too hard to make this look worse than it is.

If you read the narrative the cop pretty much has it penned as a drug deal with the weapons and one in plain view on Jones' lap. If that is true or not remains to be seen. This is frustrating to watch kids throw away great opportunities regardless of fan affiliation.

You know, one of the things I find sad when these type of things happen is how there are so many good kids out there who would love to be in a position like these guys. Starter on a NC contending team, projected top 5 draft pick, etc. These guys get great opportunities but just throw them away and it is really sad.
The fact is, there are a lot of crappy people that play college football, that come from really bad places and really bad backgrounds No team is immune to it, and unfortunately some of the best recruits that every team wants, end up being some of the worst people.
Yep. It really does make you shake your head though.

I bet this is the likely scenario. The question us though how will Saban punish them?
I could be wrong, but felony possession of a stolen firearm is not often plead down to a misdemeanor. Particularly when there are narcotics involved.

Man, the SEC must be pretty powerful.

What? How did you get drug deal from what the cop wrote? It sounded like the two kids were sitting in the car smoking weed the cop walked up on them saw a gun and they all got arrested

Maybe, but if these are first offenses for both of them (and Cam Rob has a legit, believable story about having the stolen firearm) then I'm betting the felony gets pled down and they both get probation.
this is theoretically possible, but possession of a stolen firearm is a pretty serious offense
possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS is also a pretty serious offense
note: i really do hate these laws and i'm not piling on cam
it's hard to go from a relatively serious felony to a misdemeanor, but i don't think it's impossible given who he is

If the arrest happened in Tuscaloosa/B'ham I'd agree but since it happened in Monroe La. it's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out...

what does my age have to do with your All American Left Tackle getting arrested?
Alabama lost their best player, assuming Sabear does the right thing and processes his arse. If you are going to sit here and say that losing the best player isn't going to affect Bama, then I am going to call you out on it. that is just stupid. thats like saying LSU will be fine if Fournette gets arrested on weapons charges tomorrow.

I'm saying it's not plead down often. I meant to include "stolen" in there though.
