The two teams in front of SC both beat SC head to head and both would have the same record assuming all win this week

I think the Bama game was close enough that the losses come more into play plus momentum to end the season that it could happen, if not for one thing you said:

Maybe they'd do it if SC's name were... Alabama. But the reverse? Doubtful.

I'm not saying it would be the right move, but I can see it happening with almost any team not named Alabama. Most bluebloods I'd say the same.

I've said it a bunch, but Ole Miss we have no argument. Early losses that bad can't overcome late season results IMO. Ole Miss dominated us. Both teams have better wins, but worse losses. I agree the committee seems to be following a "sorting by quality losses" standard.

I could defend a three loss team in the CFP, especially in the SEC, but those were not good losses

But Ole Miss kicked SC's arse in Columbia.

Tell me how I know you didn't watch the game.

They beat us, handedly ... but two of their scores were handed to them because of Beamer playing the riverboat gambler fantasy and giving Ole Miss outragious field position. One on the opening drive after our D had shut them down.

It was the game in which Beamer apologized profusely for afterwards.

As I stated after the game, that game, more than any other in Beamer's tenure, taught his coaches, his players and him a lesson.

They never gave up on the season. They were at Bama the next week ... missed a last second FG. They've not lost since. They've romped.

Personally, I would’ve dropped them further than 13 after that whoopin by OU.

How is Ole Miss behind them? Both lost to bad teams, but at least Ole Miss lost by one score in all three games.

Both beat UGA (Ole Miss by more), and both have bad losses.

Heh there is no "national champion" this year.

And Bama, Ole Miss and A&M should not be anywhere near the playoffs.

Alabama is the Michael Meyers of college football - no matter how many times you think they are dead, they keep coming back

Funny that's how I see Auburn.

The difference is that Auburn actually seems close to death a lot.

Alabama is the most storied football program of all time. Not sure why you'd think theyd ever be dead but okay

LSU made this Bama team look like all time greats out there.

OP, Alabama doesn't need to go to the playoffs. They need to go home and reboot the program. Deboer need to spend time hiring coaches and getting the team unified.

Two weeks ago LSU and South Carolina had the same record. South Carolina was ahead despite LSU beating them on the road.

Winning at Clemson would be enough to outweigh Bama barely beating South Carolina at home

Good news for Ole Miss. Nothing can make their loss to Kentucky look worse than it already does.

Though they have plenty of talent factor to consider, the Saban factor is gone and that’s a huge factor in everyone’s eyes.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they are outside looking in this year. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they made it either.

When I look at the list and see teams that I think we’d have a shot against then something is wrong.

I don't care how it happens, but if you lose by 24, you got your arse kicked.

Hell we lost by 18 to Ole Miss and that's an arse kicking too.

what you did there was making excuses. You scored 3 points. They kicked your arse. Don't make excuses.

Probably because the UK loss was at home while Bama's losses were on he road...

and probably because UK only has one conference win this year (Ole Miss), so it's a particularly bad loss.

If you exchanged the home loss to UK with a road loss to Arkansas, OM is probably ahead of Bama.

Depends on Clemson and S. Carolina.

If Clemson wins, they are in before Bama.

If S. Carolina wins, they should put them in front of Bama but they probably won't. It's a sliding scale with this committee.

Now do schedule strength. I’ll wait……..
