I sure wish we would have "made" Shula when I was there!

Saban could achieve everything he's done at Bama with any power 5 school that has a rich recruiting base... LSU, Texas, Georgia, any of the Fla schools etc...He was on his way at LSU until he had to scratch the Pro itch

DuBose and Shula were both below average coaches who still managed 10-win seasons in year three of their tenures. DuBose even managed to beat Florida twice in the same year and win the SEC.

Even the most mediocre of coaches can achieve short term success at Alabama. You can’t say that about any other school in the conference.

Some would say that's the case with LSU and Les and possibly even Orgeron.

Every coach since Bryant has had a 10 win seasons.

Saban didn't make Bama. Bama didn't make Saban. But it was a match made in heaven that happened at just the right time.

I don't know if it happens that way again, anywhere.

Gerry Dinardo went 10-2 and then 9-3 in back to back years at LSU

We also won an SEC title with Mike fricking Archer

Les Miles eats grass and won 2 sec titles and a national title

Not even Bama fans think that. Bama football was on its death bed when Saban showed up.

And Bill Curry was such a made guy by Bama he left for... Kentucky.

Fran left for... Aggy.

Seems to me Bama was a stepping stone for much of the time betwixt Bear's retirement and Saban's arrival.

Just to use logic here. Bama was a sniveling, defecating, runny nosed crying child in the corner when Saban took the job.

7-6 then Champions.

The potential was there, clearly. But the accurate assessment is Saban resurrected Bama or "remade" Bama. Of all the young men and coaches that have worn the A and come thru that program since Saban made it excellent, there is only one constant. That's lil Nicky. The rest of the group are just chess pieces for him. Take him out, and lo and behold, we may see that sniveling child who shits himself reappear.
