There I said it.

When i was in the second grade in 1976 Mighty Alabama was coming to town. Everybody knew Georgia had to beat Mighty Alabama and the whole town of Athens was in a frenzy. Georgia dominated Alabama that day and got to be the king for a minute. But the next year 1977 things were back to normal.

This is how it has been my entire life of an sec football fan. That's fifty years. One of the other big six teams will get on a run and be the best team in the SEC for a year or two or three, but will ultimately fall back to the pack and Bama will re-emerge as the King.

When Pollack taunted Saban on national television and said Georgia was the new King it was fun, it was funny, I enjoyed it, but in my heart of hearts I knew it wasn't true. Bama is the King. If I had been born a Bama Fan that would be nice, but I was baptized in the Church of UGA and I'm happy enough with that.

Kirby Smart is getting paid 10 million dollars a year to worry about Uga football 24-7. For me the season is basically over and I can go back to worrying about my 401k and keeping my old lady straight. Yall can read this or not, comment or not. I been around a long time, rarely post, but I thought I'd get it off my chest.

Georgia has built something much more durable than any other school to put a season or a bit of a run together since Saban returned to the SEC.

Smart has built it the right way. So it isn't going to fall apart due to toxic locker room dynamics, a single great player graduating or going pro, or the ephemeral nature of an SEC coaching staff.

But until further notice, no one should underestimate the GOAT's hold on this conference. I'll admit, I was doubting after the third week of the season. He made a fool out of me.

UGA is set up to last 20+ years if Kirby stays.

Congrats

But Bama has a tier 2 overall athletic program and only one sport that really shines. LSU IS KING OF SEC, period!

Feels like it's Georgia vs Alabama for the next few years. Obviously Kirby is here to stay and has built a monster.

Georgia is not going away any time soon.

I know it stings, because we have been there! I think GA football is going to be around the top for a long time, you can't win it every year.

Pollack woke the sleeping giant with his comment and I don't think Saban thought it was funny.

Now go beat FSU!

Good post but don’t downplay the GA program right now. Bama and GA are the twin beasts of CFB for the foreseeable future.

Our offense deciding to die for three quarters didn’t help either. The past two years certainly cushioned the blow but goddamn being that close to accomplishing something that’s never been done before in modern history does suck

Thanks but it's really not that bad. I'm old school SEC. We are family. We might get drunk and get in a fight at thanksgiving but we stick together vs outsiders. Hell even when Florida was humiliating UGA on the regular I was pulling hard for them to beat Ohio State in the national championship game. Same goes for Bama this year. The last thing I want is for Michigan to come out of it looking better than the SEC.

Georgia is going to remain right up there at the top and will continue to be in contention basically every year just like Alabama.

Did they take a team vote...or did Bama adjusting have something to do with it

And also, Bama has been on this verge of history 3x...UGa will take it in stride and contend next year - to good not to
