Doesn't matter. Bama isn't going to win the title this year anyway, they will get beat in the playoffs. Bama has serious issues on offense and that will bite them in the arse when they get into the playoffs. Probably before then even. Auburn may knock them off in two weeks.

As long as they don't lose badly (more than 2 TDs), I think you are correct.

Even then, I think it would have be a really bad loss to persuade the committee Bama is unworthy.

Given their lack of very bad losses this century, that seems extremely unlikely. Better than odds of winning the Powerball though.

How you can be so certain they'd be in with a loss, assuming Wiscy or Oklahoma doesn't trip up?

Either Oklahoma or Wisconsin is going to lose a game. Call it a hunch.

Bama can lose to Auburn and get in as a 1 loss team.
Bama can lose to Georgia and get in as a 1 loss team (slightly more iffy though as UGA would probably get a better seed).
If UGA loses again, they are done.

Wild card would be Auburn winning out. But all Bama needs is enough other teams to lose to get in. The loss to Auburn would be mitigated by arguments that they are still the best one loss team.

Bama only needs to be in the top four. In 2013, they would have gotten in the top four if there had been a top four playoff.

You are forgetting all about Miami. What if their one loss is a close loss in the ACCCG? There are people who will say the U has played a stronger schedule, has a better win, a better loss, and has played one more game than bama.

Bama has taken care of business so far and I guess that brings certain perks and favor.

Seems many folks within the CFB world are tired of Bama winning, I understand this, and I personally think CFB is just looking for an excuse to keep Bama home. Bama gives them a window, I'm afraid many will take it. Bama is a victim of their own success sometimes, but there's worst situations to be in...

Fun facts:

Wisconsin held the Iowa offense (that boatraced tOSU) to 63 yards and zero points. Iowa's 14 points came from pick-6s.

Wisc plays Mich this week & tOSU plays Mich next week.

Pretty decent chances Wisconsin could end up 13-0 B1G champ.

Norte Dame getting shelled opened up a lot more possibilities for this.

Not likely, but possible.

Nothing guaranteed!! I'd rather win out and leave no doubt rather than need chaos like the end of the '11 season to take place. A loss, in my eyes, means that we need Wisky to stumble this week or in the BIG10 Title game and need OU to choke in their BIG 12 "title" game.

Disagree. If Miami wins out and either Oklahoma or Wisconsin loses there's a better than average chance Alabama still gets in the playoff with an Iron Bowl loss assuming it's a single digit loss. That loss would be as good as any in the country and Ohio State, Notre Dame, and TCU all have 2 losses. If Oklahoma wins out and Wisconsin loses in the Big 10 championship game then I think you're looking at:

1) Miami
2) Oklahoma
3) Auburn/Georgia
4) Alabama

Can't see Ohio State with two losses by significant margins or Notre Dame with two losses jumping an Alabama team with only 1 loss to a top 5 team (assuming Auburn wins out)

Even if Bama gets in, it's anyone game this season. There's really isn't a dominate team and it seems all top teams have weakness that can be exploited. Shoot, I'm surprised Bama has done this well when we consider how inexperience Bama was when we started season. Bama lost a bunch of experienced talent, especially defensively to draft, on top of injuries at LB, and Bama's offense not really finding itself yet. Again, I'm surprised Bama is undefeated, and without Hurt's at QB, Bama wouldn't be undefeated right now. Hurt's has answered the call within games when it mattered most, and there's always those few moments in games that can decide which way they'll go. Hurt's seems to have ice flowing throughout his veins, he has stepped up when these crucial game moments arrive. Will Hurt's do this every time? No but in his short time as Bama's QB, Hurt's has done this enough to see a pattern emerging. Even on crucial 3rd downs, Hurt's either makes the right choice of throwing away or he's making the play if it's there. Just within this last Miss St. game, I believe Miss St. took leads by 7 twice that 1st half, but Hurts took Bama down field the following drives. That's when crowd noise was crazy hostile, and add in those darn cowbells too! Hurt's and Bama weren't through, Hurt's drove Bama down the field at end of Miss St. game to take lead when things were looking bleak for Bama. Even in the Clemson game last year, Hurt's took Bama's offense down for the go ahead score their last drive, after Bama's offense stuttered without Bo's RB tear he was on. We seeing a pattern yet? Some complaining about Hurts being Bama's QB baffles me and how anyone can say Hurt's hasn't answered the call several times over already, as a true sophomore I'll add, isn't giving Hurt's the credit he's earned so far. If you want perfect, I suppose engineers can make a machine QB...

We'll see if Bama has enough in the tank to get it done or not soon enough, it's a toss up at this point...

I reject the premise of OPs statement as most Gumps in here have done. I dont think we are definitely in. That being said if we lose to AU and are left out I am sure we will hear "ZOMG the Bammers thought they would get in and are melting now"

They learned their lesson by putting in a non champion OSU in last year. OSU got raped by Clemson while Penn St would’ve been the better choice. If AU wins the IB Bama isn’t getting in unless Bama has the luck of LSU in 2007 and everybody lose the last weekend.

I think a 1 loss Miami that loses to a 1 loss Clemson would get the nod over a 1 loss Bama.

That being said pretty simple for Bama to be in with a loss they would need... Clemson to lose to South Carolina, or Miami to lose to Virginia or @ Pittsburg, or Oklahoma to lose to kan... @ West Virginia, or Oklahoma to lose to TCU. If one of those happens and Wisconsin doesn't win out Bama is definitely in.

SEC Champ - In
ACC Champ - In
Big XII or Miami
11-1 Bama

Left Out:
11-1 Wisconsin
2 loss Pac 12
2 loss Big 10 champ
2 loss Notre Dame

If Bama beats Auburn I think a 12-1 Bama would get in over a 1 loss Miami, but not over a 1 loss Oklahoma so if we beat Auburn the only scenario without us in the playoff is:

Undefeated Wisconsin (not likely)
1 loss Clemson (likely)
1 loss Oklahoma (50/50)
1 loss UGA
