Dan Lanning impresses me - AGREED
Dabo would be fine - HARD PASS
I think the guy at Kansas is a really good coach but he’s probably too old - AGREED, too old
If Demeco does a decent job with the Texans I’d at least ask him - POSSIBLY

Elko would get a look.

James Franklin, possibly.

Kalen Deboer...doubtful, but worth talking.

Meh, being a blue blood doesn't really mean much in 2023.

Oregon is set up very well in the NIL realm going forward. The only positives to making that move would be if he just absolutely wants to be in the SEC and fewer long trips for the team.
You're right, Lanning will never leave.

Time for tRant to move on to the next jelly-of-the-month candidate.

Hirea tomato can , for three years that you can fire easily since literally no one will ever compare to Nick Saban.

The go whale hunting.

DeMeco Ryans would be a good choice. Bama job might be the only one he would leave the NFL for.

This is a standard response from any program besides the four or five who are blue bloods.

The Oklahoma “Stoops to Riley” succession plan would be the best outcome for Alabama, if they can make it happen.

This. Alabama's best path is to have a hotshot candidate that they can promote from within.

It probably is the easiest path, but we don't have anyone remotely qualified to be HC right now.

Hell.... i hate bama, but damn, can't you go search the 2k+ other posts related to who will or who they want to replace saban WHEN THAT TIME COMES?

Or hell, if the search function for you is like an LSU DB covering a WR.... meaning it's to difficult and you can't figure it out, then just wait till the off season.

I've said this for the last two years. You walk in to Kirby's office and sign a blank check to him. He will say no as he gains nothing from the move, but that is just due diligence. The next on my list would be Dan Lanning, I believe he would come and through my eyes, at the moment, he is the next Kirby. If he declined, and I doubt he would, you try Sark, and Shuman. That is my absolutely out of the loop opinion. Short answer for me would be Lanning.

I can't see Alabama hiring a first time head coach under 35 like Schumann.

Not sure what Dan Lanning gains by going to Bama

Don't be surprised. 80% of our fanbase wanted Mcelwain to be named coach in waiting...

Not really. Didn't work out too well for Bill Curry, who succeeded Perkins, who succeeded Bryant. If you haven't won a national championship by year three you're out the door.

I’m not saying he is who I want, but he wouldn’t be scared to follow him. Those comments would be forgotten if he recruits at a high level, which he would. No one love Deon more than Deon

Alabama is a premier job contrary to what a lot of fans who hate Bama think. Alabama will not be calling an assistant coach first. I think Dan Lanning or Cristobal have to be in the top tier.

That's not going to happen because they won't have to offer him.
