Do you guys feel safe going to a game there? I said the other day my rental car had a window smashed in a few months ago. Now I read this today.

Do we have to establish safe spaces in Tiger Stadium for Texas fans?

Austin has turned into a dump over the last decade. Real shame.

Austin is a dump now. Overrun by homeless. There's a reason 6th street is called "Dirty 6th" now

It's a lot better than any current SEC site. 12/14 of the current college towns would literally try to endanger my life if I stepped foot there.

For this one instance, I'm going to change my stance on LSU's "pi$$ balloon" cocktail... "Hook Em" up LSU... Give Texas that "warm" welcome only seen in R. Kelly movies..

You must never venture outside the suburbs of Mississippi if you think Austin is a dangerous city.

I live in Austin and they have really let it go in the last 2 years. Neighbor is a cop and they have destroyed their budget. Most of the senior guys have retired or are short timing it to retire. All the special units are getting severe cuts. The regular cops simply won't engage for fear of ending up on a Youtube video and having their life ruined. It's honestly sad. New DA doesn't like to prosecute small crimes or homeless people.

My wife and son went downtown to donate food and clothes to the homeless shelter and they (not my wife)had her call in advance so she could stay in her car until they could send a police escort for her to walk 20 feet to hand it to the folks who worked there and she was immediately escorted back to her car to leave. Don't even get me started on the homeless camping randomly everywhere, they passed a law to ban it but they have been very slow to enforce it.

It was never like that until recently.

Last year was so weird with the partial crowds and such I don't think we got a good idea of what it will be like. Hopefully they can keep the games safe but who knows.

I can't believe you baws are making me defend Texas on this, but how is someone in Mississippi going to comment on not feeling safe in Austin, when its own capital city is currently trending for a record homicide rate that is nearly five times higher than Austin's this year.

Austin isn't close to the most dangerous city in the SEC, but it also isn't the Austin of 20 years ago. Also, while most big cities' violent crime are concentrated in a few bad areas tourists don't really go to, Austin's seem to be more concentrated than you'd expect right in the downtown and on or near the bars on 6th street.

I wouldn't have a problem going to a game at DKR, but there's no way I'm going out in downtown Austin after dark anymore like I used to.

#1 city in the country for place to live.

I might never stop laughing at the irony of SEC fans talking shite about Austin.
