Actually, it’s good for Auburn that everyone is speculating. This means they are doing it the right way. I don’t want a bunch of coaches publicly turning down offers from us like what happened at Tennessee.

That's the pitch. That Gus was the real problem and Steele+coordinators and less dysfunction in the program would bear fruit. Idea being that it would be affordable and if it didn't work well we'd move on quickly.
Which, of course, is fine if not for the 21M. The folks who orchestrated this move misjudged the AU fan base's support for Steele. Which is why Tuesday people started throwing Malzahn under the bus - they realized they couldn't justify spending 21M to hire Steele so they needed to justify spending 21M to get rid of Gus.
I do think we're cash strapped to some extent. But as someone said (paraphrased) - "Paying a hot coach's buyout and a high salary isn't really doable. Of course, that doesn't mean it won't happen."

Auburn should hire a black head coach since Vandy fired Mason. Since you know ESPN thinks there is a serious dysfunction in the sport because a coach that went 0-9 got fired.

Ron Sanders and Marshall are both misinformed or they are pushing agenda for Steele. The fact they do not know who has been interviewed and when is the biggest proof they do not know what is going on. It has been fun to watch.

The only substantial thing you have said is that a nationwide search exists - which is pretty much a given.
The other “insider” Auburn posters (including one in this thread) have offered much more realistic information than you.
These coaching searches are never truly “up in the air” as you have implied. There’s always a main target, fallback, etc. The other interviews are usually nothing more than checking a box for the president.

To be clear, they're uniformly saying that the Auburn BOT is promoting Steele.
The posters on 247 are, like everyone else, against that plan.

I think they're correctly informed AND pushing for Steele. At least Marshall is.
Everyone else agrees with the information they're giving (Mark Murphy, etc.) he's just not campaigning for the outcome like they are.
