Because the university said as much in an interview with local news today.
Is it really a stretch to imagine they will pay him? He is the 7th highest paid coach in college basketball already. He makes more than Izzo or Self. The only ACC coach making more than him is Krzyzewski who has more than earned it. By the time this is over he will be the 2nd highest paid coach in the SEC and will be first once UK figures Cal is a world class recruiter but a mid-major game coach.

His BBOF will be approved next week and a raise will come at the end of the week. Bruce is set up for retirement because he will slide into the SECN the next day. The ACCN will not be as lucrative.

The money and the facility will come. Still, IMO the only thing that would keep him in Auburn is where his team is right now. Not the program, this team.

By the way, Pearl makes more than Self now.

This is so odd, I really don't see UL wanting Pearl with his NCAA track record, but he is a hot name, and it appears he is interested.

The reason his will stay is because of Auburn's location. With UGA struggling in BB and GT not being relevant in years, AU can be the de facto flagship for the state of GA as far as BB recruiting is concerned. He wouldn't have that luxury in KY.

Is that why Auburn cant ever recruit in football? Oh wait...yall do just fine.
UofL is a top all time program with an NBA facility and a fan base that cares. It is a big stage. It isn't some backwater with a sorry arse 8K arena that let's basketball play second fiddle.

Gosh, it sure seems strange you are so invested in a second string program. It almost sounds like you are scared of losing to other SEC schools. But that can't be right. We have no history and no one wants to play in our shitty little arena.
I mean, you must be dominating them on the court, right?
Some Kentucky fans seem so insecure lately. You had better pray the rest of the SEC does not take an interest in basketball or you may be even more upset in the future.

I cannot remember the last time I saw Louisville on the big stage. The ACCN is shite and at one point CBS will have Saturday SEC Games locked up. That is the point today, people are living in the past thinking everything is the same as it was 20 years ago. Who cares how big the arena is if it has zero electricity? Ask Duke fans if they like their sorry arse 8k arena or would prefer the 24K sterile environment of Rupp.

I can’t Imagine him leaving Auburn for the dumpster fire of both the University and City of Louisville.

All these kids play in the same tournaments. Not sure what geography has to do with anything when it comes to recruiting basketball players, this isn’t football. Geography should only matter for mid major programs

It's probably 75% of the reason we ended up with Kessler.

Has everything to do with it. If a player can play for a good program close to home, they will at least give that school a look. Unlike football, teams play BB games midweek. Being close to home allows their families to attend most of the games. Just look at AU roster the last 5 years and where many of their star players are from.
