They lose a lot on defense, namely Montravius Adams who is IMO a top 5 player in the country, but still have a lot of talent on that side of the ball, especially at LB which has been a weak point for AU in the recent past.

On offense they will have a top 3 OL in the SEC, probably immediately the best QB in the SEC in Stidham, and great skill position players. Young guys like Nate Craig-Myers and Kyle Davis will be studs with a good QB to get them the ball.

Bama will still be good, but losing Allen, Williams, Foster and any juniors that leave will hurt our defense, and our offense can be sketchy at times anyway. I think Auburn drops a game to LSU or UGA, but wins the H2H tiebreaker against Bama to win the West and make it to Atlanta in 2017.

Tennessee could win the East if their new QB lives up to his billing, UGA will be the favorite, and Florida might continue the trend and back into it 3 years in a row. South Carolina could be a dark horse just based on their QB, but I'm not sure who the key guys are that will be returning for them.

So who will be the Auburn head coach that wins the SEC? Surely not Malzahn.

8 wins is their ceiling next year.

If people start picking AU to win the West they're going to flop. If people expect 8 or 9 wins they will win 11+.

It's the way they roll.

Simply by you thinking this, you're guaranteeing they have at least 4 losses.

If you had said Auburn will be lucky to break .500 next year...that's when they really shine.

we were supposed to be 6-6 this year. We will certainly be improved next year offensively, and probably about the same defensively, but we're gonna be worse? Great logic

That sounds a lot like LSU lately, because people pick them for 10+ every year

I'm no Malzahn champion, but saying a dude who won it a couple seasons ago is going to win it again isn't bizarre

Good lord. Auburn will win the West and Tennessee the East?

Don't drive on that medication. That's some strong stuff.

AU has had top 10 recruiting classes for years, talent hasn't been the problem for them. That wacky arse play calling and predictable offensive scheme has to change. Are Gus/Rhett capable of evolving?

Never predicted the East, just gave contenders. East is so bad its like picking your favorite turd out of the bowl.

AU losing in Baton Rouge is just crazy. That never happens, right?

Saying anyone besides Saban is pretty bizarre at this point but Gus would be the next choice

Or, in the alternative, will the pieces be there to make their stubborn absurdity function as intended?

I'd prefer the evolution, but I'd take the other option.

I just want AU to break this shitty 8 win cycle. But Auburn isn't very good at putting together great-but-not-championship level seasons.
