Turquorius Vines, 23, said he was at the pool party Saturday evening at the University Heights apartments with one of his friends. He said he and his friend were approached by two other men who started arguing with them over a woman.
Vines said he punched one of the men, while his friend hit both of the men over the head with a bottle. Either one or both of the two men then started shooting, he said. He said his friend was shot and killed, while two others also were hit by gunfire. Vines said he had never before seen the men who he had been arguing with.
"It's like I lost a lung," Vines said of his friend. "I don't know how I'm going to survive this."

I can confirm now what is widely known. Former Auburn football players Ed Christian and Ladarious Phillips were killed last night in a shooting at University Park Apartments in Auburn. Current player Eric Mack was wounded but is in no danger.

It's awful that an argument has to turn to this in the first place.

The incident occurred after several men had an argument, then a fight, at the University Heights apartment complex. One or two of the men returned and began shooting, apparently indiscriminately. The shooters have no association with the football program, according to a source.

What a complete tragedy, especially if the players were actually trying to break up the altercation.

I was looking forward to heading over to Auburn today to drop a kid at camp. Now, it just makes me sad.

Prayers for the families of the players killed, and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Chilled made the thread and title last night when twitter was the only source of the reports. I guess the admin who stickied didn't think to change the title.

so at last we have the catalyst, the REALLY CRAPPY decision that changed lives. And whats really sad is now these shooters are going to claim self defense and get away with it or at least get a reduction...Mr. Vines sir you are a shite nugget for starting a fight that got your friend and others killed and for giving the perps an out via your quote in the AP story.

prayers for the families involved.
Turguorius you can eat a dick.
Shooters, i hope you resist and get killed in the process

I would think self defense goes out the window if the guys leave and then come back and start shooting.

reports are the guy left and came back shooting. If so, no self defense.

We haven't heard anything to the contrary, we are assuming the camp is still on.

I would thinks so too but from the guys quote in the Ap article it sounds as if it all went down at once

'Vines said he punched one of the men, while his friend hit both of the men over the head with a bottle. Either one or both of the two men then started shooting,'

Idk, sucks either way but if idiot Vines and co. struck first and they responded then and there its going to sadly be used to reduce the punishment of these murderering thugs

Correct. If you escape the confrontation and willfully return you waive self defense.

Makes me sick to hear this, a shooting over a fist fight is so ridiculous. And I thought I was having a terrible day.
