Not sure why age would really matter. We have seen guys in their mid 20s leaving pro baseball and playing college football.

Not the new "pro rule", but it is violation of 14.01.01, which is the rule originally cited by the SEC is their lawsuit against LSU.

You think recruiting all european players is a violation of that bylaw?

It is not.

Eh, maybe to a degree since they changed the rules on that after he signed, but majority of these cases with the NCAA for Euro, there is a threshold they are allowed to be paid that falls within reason of covering expenses. I don't know how much of that $300k number is over his full career or what, since he has played primarily in the lower divisoins.

Well, that is part of the rule changes. There used to not be an age rule.

I'd say it depends on if that is his total earnings or not. He's played since 2018. If that is the total he's earned, I'd say that would be in the realm of covering reasonable expenses.

If that was a one year salary, yea i'd say that is over the threshold easily.

Age has become somewhat a buzzword for disgruntled fans and that's leading into legal discussion.

I heard more about Chad Baker's Mazara's age than his antics from other fans despite other fans were highly frothy over his antics

There were dudes getting 4 years of eligibility at 22 though so I support common sense eligibility based on age. So Mantas...1 year.

Incorrect.

Anyone the NCAA has ruled ineligible is in violation of 14.01.01.

You people quite literally clutched your pearls over 2 guys who never stepped foot in a preseason football game. But we should let the europeans with multiple pro bball seasons under their belt play

Genuinely dont care if they get ruled eligible, more power to them. I just cant get over "this is why my pro is different than your pro" takes

What relevance do you think that has to this thread at the moment or what I had responded to. The other poster's claim was that recruiting european players was a violation of the rules, it is not.

Honestly? I hope nothing happens to anyone, the conference gets its shite together in the offseason, and we get clear and fairly applied standards moving forward.

It’s past time the NCAA let go of this “amateurism” sham. Everyone knows college sports are no longer amateur.

The only reason LSU fans are throwing you under the bus is to further expose the outrageous hypocrisy & coordinated mafia / media blitz singling out our school.

Holding an emergency vote to institute a new rule & abruptly breaking a pattern of respecting TROs… suing the institution and state officials… repeatedly threatening expulsion…

What you’re getting in this thread is a tiny microscopic taste of what we have been dealing with going all the way back to recruitment of UWs QB
