Yes. I hate the whole God sales pitch. Chizik's been doing that shite since he got here though.

Because Auburn is the first group of athletes to ever thank God for helping them get to where they got....

That is not all it is and you know it.

Thanking God is not-

"That was a God thing"

"God was with US"

"I'm an instrument of God"

Go ask a returning vet or the parents of the little girl in AZ how much CFB matters.

I've been a returning vet, and college football matters! Granted my last weekend in the states, I went to the 2004 SEC Champ Game. Weeks later, I had to find a tv with the Sugar Bowl on @ 3AM. But CFB matters!

The whole God thing- Chizik isn't doing himself or Auburn any favors by calling it "a God thing." If he wants to praise God following a victory, he should. He just needs to clarify, so the stone throwers can be specific in their critisisms.

Thanks for your service.

The comment you quoted was to be taken in a relative sense. CFB matters, in that you are correct. It is a chance to celebrate with friends & enjoy your school of choice. But to attribute divine intervention is to offically jump the shark.

I actually didn't mind it with Tebow because he actually seems genuine about his faith. Cam Newton and Gene Chizik on the other hand

I completely agree, but I don't think that Chizik intends to imply that God was on Auburn's side, but it can come off that way. That is why saying "it was a God thing" is just not doing anyone any favors. Give praise, if you want to give praise, but saying it's a God thing leaves many folks believing that Auburn believes that God has chosen them to win. (which He totally has!)

If Gene isn't making that implication, he should curb his QB from calling himself an "instrument of God".

Maybe I'm a little sensitive because Dubose said the same crap while banging his secretary circa '99 season.

My wife is begining to hate gene because of it. I give him a pass because I'm a hardcore homer.
