??

They finished 7th nationally in '20 and consistently averages around 10th under Mahlzan. Not Bama like but certainly not bad at all and good enough to compete nationally.

Harsin should hire some coaches from outside the region to hinder recruiting as well...

I've said it about five times here, and get downvoted to hell each time, but how is Auburn going to compete in the NIL era? Paying players has always been their advantage, now everyone can do it.

Ok, now tell us where Malzahn’s final class was ranked when he was fired…2 weeks before early signing. Hint: It was about 30 places below the ‘22 class currently.

Maybe...if you're still playing Kansas, Baylor, and Texas Tech.

Who the Hell finishes strong in recruiting the year they get fired?
2021 was obviously an outlier when you look at his other years and I was responding to this:

quote:

Last staff ran their recruiting program into the ground.

He finished 7th nationally in 2020.
Are saying he ran the "recruiting program" into the ground in one year?

This was 100% correct. He was fired 2 weeks before early signing. Whether he did it knowing he was being fired or not, he quit recruiting in 2020.

Yes! And do we even need to rehash all the 4 and 5* recruits that were busts, transferred out, or flat out didn't fit into his systems. He woefully neglected the offensive line in most of his 8 years.

You do realize most top tier teams don’t have a new coach?

A new coach should bring excitement and hype.

This is a complete non issue. When a coach comes in they almost always walk into a dismal first recruiting year. The outgoing staff isn't going to put a lot of effort in, and the incoming staff cannot get traction fast enough. It's pretty normal. Nothing to see here.

I don’t think anyone is claiming it isn’t expected.

Seriously, lol Auburn is the Texas A&M of the state of Alabama. Only difference between A&M and Auburn is that Auburn has actually won a National title in the past 75 years!

So what I am trying to say is, the natives at Auburn are shitting a brick looking at those numbers! lol

Negative. We really are not.

Barring a disastrous season on the field, Auburn will finish in the top-25 this year. That's not good enough long-term, but not bad considering the coaching change.

Considering this isn’t the recruiting board, that’s not surprising. Maybe check our Auburn thread dedicated strictly to recruiting. Too logical, I know.

You’ve been in the SEC long enough to know everybody’s been paying players

Harry Truman High…hate to break it to you but… that dog don’t hunt no more! There a numerous higher education schools in the good ole SEC that have been placed on probation since Aubies last encounter in 1993. Keep it down home cuz! When was Harry Truman High last on probation? I believe you still have one year left and it is the entire Athletic Department. Now you see why you get down voted? Try harder!
