Isn't Oklahoma still playing too?

Yes, but it's nothing to be proud of. Just extra practice and game time for all involved. In the quarter final Creighton (16-17) beat Rutgers (14-20).

I don’t think it’s nothing.

There’s something to be said for winning 4-5 games in a row against solid-not-great competition.

I blame the parenting of the youth today.

In the past it was family + faith + community = parenting

Now it is global corporations via modern media = parenting

that part

yeah, nothing to brag about, but an opportunity to be one of two teams to end their season with a W, why not make the most of it

Kind of like a crappier version of one of those preseason tournaments. Like a bunch of fat kids playing dodge ball. But frick it, we’re in it, so let’s go win it.

Congrats on being the Number 75-ranked team in the country. Perfect for Auburn.

An embarrassing season?

Is it as embarrassing as playing an ineligible player and then having one of your players getting busted with pounds of weed?

Winning the NIT title means you finished in 65th place in the nation.

Right behind the 64 teams in the Big Dance.

I'm not going to pump the NIT but this has NEVER been true. Bubble teams are generally around #40-45 and winning five straight games against tournament competition is only going to bump that up.

Auburn was 38 in the NET rankings and 37 in KenPom going into the tournament.

Any team in the country would take Sweet 16 over NIT champs regardless of the circumstances.

Auburn would be the first P4 team to win the NIT since Texas in 2019. The tournament has devalued significantly over the years but congrats to Auburn for winning against - South Alabama, Seattle, Nevada and Illinois State. There’s a reason Auburn suddenly looks like a solid squad.

The NIT has always been second rate but feel like more so now. Most of the good bubble teams don't even play.

Oklahoma is the only "good" bubble team that opted out.

First off........the NIT at one time was a better Tourney than the NCAA. It was the premier Tourney.

Secondly........it is a second tier now and winning it is nice, but doesn't mean much..............................but "embarrassing"? Hell no.
