Were they tough? Or did they just play a way easier schedule?
Final SP+ rankings last year had Auburn #34, Baylor #38. Their toughest regular season games were against BYU and TCU while Auburn’s two most difficult were Bama and Georgia. I’d say they had a distinct advantage when it came to SOS.

Auburn will win at least one of these.
We beat A&M last season and have faired pretty decent in College Station since the Aggies joined the league.
We should have beaten Oklahoma last season… led by 11 with 9 minutes to play with the ball and a first down until Peyton Thorne decided to throw a pick 6. Peyton Thorne is finally gone.
Georgia will be tough but the game is at home. We had UGA on the ropes late in the 4th quarter last time they came to the Plains. This Auburn team is better and this Georgia team is way worse than that 2023 squad.
I don’t know that Auburn’s record will be in the first 6 games… I suspect 4-2 but I think 3-3 is certainly possible.
But I do know that everyone understands that the back half of the schedule is much softer.
Missouri
@Arkansas
Kentucky
@Vanderbilt
Mercer
Alabama
Using SP+ preseason rankings to project future Vegas odds, Auburn will be a heavy favorite against Mercer, Kentucky, and at Vanderbilt. Games against Missouri and Arkansas are essentially pick ‘ems. And we’ll be about a 2 TD underdog to Bama. However we all know about Bama’s struggles at Auburn.

Auburn beats Mizzou, Arkansas, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Mercer in a row. Fairly certain the road team has won the Arkansas/Auburn series 4-5 years in a row.

I like it. If we’re on a 5-game win streak, there is no way we lose to Bama in Jordan-Hare.

I see the start more in the 3-3 or 4-2 range. I'm not predicting Auburn rolls to 20-0 season where they not only win the Natty but enter the NFL playoffs as a wildcard and run the table there. But that is a doable opening schedule.
My take, which is almost certainly wrong, is that they start out fairly well and run out of steam down the home stretch. Which is worse for the AD than a collapse to start the season. Do you pay out the nose to fire Freeze if he goes 7-5 and lands you in the "there are much worse options" bowl game?

2. Ball State win
3. South Alabama win
4. At Oklahoma loss
5. At Texas AM loss
6. Georgia loss
That is 2-4
Next step Freeze is fired.
Then Auburn will have very few options as no decent coach will take the job and deal with control freak boosters. They will have to hire a guy like
Jimbo Fisher he gets 30 million per win contract since he beat Alabama before
Les Miles
A well known high school coach.
Tuberville again
Any coach who beat Alabama
Norvell Auburn pays his buyout and gives him 20 million a year
Mark Hudspeth
Rush Propst who actually has less baggage than Freeze
Coach O
I think Freeze does better this season and is there at least another year. All he needs is to get better at QB. I don't think they're making the playoffs but I also don't think they're having a losing record like they did last season.

Auburn will finish 7-5. Auburn fans will proclaim they are back, just wait till next year, and then go throw some toilet paper.

Doubtful, but the point was about an Ole Miss fan talking shite when I’m not sure if there are any ole Miss grads still alive from their last sec title?

Uhmmmm, maybe, …..it is a make or break year for Freeze.
How did DeBoer do taking Bama to the playoffs,……oh, …wait….

Just one problem. Auburn can't give what Auburn don't own.

I see minimum 4 wins and max 5.
Debor will be fired at Alabama first
