It was a lot more than that.
Petrino took a knee the year before to show respect.
After the death of Garrett Uekman, Petrino and the team was very emotional in that game.
Les Miles did not and it showed a lack of sportsmanship to an opponent that was suffering the loss of a beloved player.

It was always a forced rivalry for both of us, although at this point it's certainly more of a rivalry than OU.
Why not Tulane? Might as well help your little brother.

Fortunately the new OC uses counter, HBack/G inserts, and split zone as well as OZ.
Pribula had a noodle arm and Venebles knew Pribula didnt have the hole shot and deep seam in his bag. The throws were there. Simmons can drive it.
Oh noez....

I always enjoyed the Arkansas games as so many were competitive. It probably won't be under this coach, but hopefully the Hogs' program will be back on solid ground and relevant.
I'm no Arky fan, but would find it enjoyable to see them beating up on the likes of OU, Texas, and Aggsy.

OU really hasn’t embraced non former Big 12 SEC teams yet to start an annual game that weekend and won’t schedule Oklahoma State,
You have it exactly backwards, which is no surprise.....

More so, I don’t think OU would schedule OSU when we have 9 conference games, and one mandatory non conference P4 required unless OSU counts as the required non conference.
Some schools play the 11th P4 to keep their rivalry games. Georgia plays Georgia Tech, Florida plays FSU or Miami, South Carolina plays Clemson, plus their 9 conference games, plus a non conference P4. I would assume OU has no interest in an 11th P4 game.

As long as the conference doesn’t mess with OU Texas game I’m fine with the rest of schedule.
OU and Mizzou have played 98 times so it makes sense to be paired with them.
OU leads 68-25-5.
Ole Miss was more surprising. The league is supposed to evaluate permanent opponents every four years. So I’m not certain we play Mizzou at the end of season for 10 years as you said.
The question is whether the league evaluation changes up the rivalry weekend matchup s.

Everyone drew their top 3 rivals, LSU probably would have preferred Bama, Ole Miss, A&M. But they did play Arkansas that weekend for a while.
I assume they might one to switch maybe one team of the three then. You have history with Mizzou and horn, not so much Ole Miss. Bama vs OU is becoming pretty good, close game that go both ways.
Who would you replace Ole Miss with or consider starting a rivalry with?

Would you guys consider scheduling Oklahoma State that weekend going forward?

The SEC tries to force rivalries. You can ask the other schools, as mentioned, LSU and Arkansas felt like a forced rivalry to some LSU fans. Arkansas agreed.
For example, if the SEC thinks horn vs Florida is a good potential new rivalry, they will go out of their way to force the game annually at the expense of rotating other teams.
Also, besides OU vs Mizzou, what SEC school is not playing a rival? I’m not understanding your comment.
