Is this real life? If so, then we would be considered a Cinderella. In my lifetime, we have been a basketball school so we may be the dog here but this isn’t our first rodeo. Hogs by 90

When you have a preseason top-15 ranked roster that is one of the top three or four highest paid rosters in the nation, the team isn't a "Cinderella". It just means that your team underperformed expectations for the majority of the season, only getting its shite together just in time to make the tournament. One or two more bad losses and this Arkansas team would be getting talked about as one of the most underachieving teams in the country along with Indiana, KSU, and Kansas.

This.

To me, a Cinderella will always be some non-Power 5, mid-major school that doesn’t typically make or go far in the NCAAT. Florida Gulf Coast, St. Peter’s, etc.

I’d refer to Arkansas as more of the underdog in this scenario.

According to whom? "Talent" is proven by performance, not by recruiting rankings.

We have had top 15 rosters without paying big money, ppl act like we wouldn’t have good players if we didn’t buy them. We also started out having no chance at the tournament to winning our first two games against heavily favored opponents.

I think you could have P5 Cinderellas but they would have to be smaller schools without much history and less talent.

For example, I’d consider that Oregon State team that went to the Elite Eight as a 12 seed a couple of years ago a Cinderella.

If Vandy was still in I’d maybe consider them one as well.

We are definitely not one.

The injuries allowed us to sandbag the shite out of everybody.

We’ve had good players all season, they are now good players playing together and unselfish. We went from a group of individuals to a team of, that’s a big difference and adversity brought them here. They won’t win it all, most likely, but I’ve enjoyed the journey at the end.

Having a coach who has been to all levels of the dance helps tremendously as well. No intimidation factor there.

I didn't say that, and there is nothing anywhere close in my post that alleges that.

The reality:
Arkansas and Cal paid well for an elite roster. That roster was among the top three or four highest paid in the country. That roster, on talent, ranked top 15 in the country pre-season. That roster greatly underperformed expectations for the majority of the season and found itself in multiple do-or-die type games, one being a humiliating disaster of a loss to South Carolina that nearly tanked its tournament hopes.

If Cal and the team hadn't figured some things out at damn near the last minute this roster/team would be considered a complete failure relative to expectations and pre-season rankings.

A team finally playing up to its expectations after being on the brink of being a failure comparable to other high dollar rosters is not a Cinderella. It wasn't long ago that Arky was being compared to Indiana, Kansas State, and Kansas as the most disappointing teams of the season.

Regular season was disappointing regardless of the circumstances but we dealt with injuries all season, including for players who played through them during the season (Davis for example has had issues with his hand). We’re finally getting healthy and it’s showing.

I don’t consider the team a Cinderella team, but injuries played a part of some of the struggles. But the injuries also allowed other players to step up and get better and for the individuals to come together as a team.

This season could have been written off but the coach and players rose to the occasion. That can’t be denied. Our program has been here many times with teams who were given no chance, just business as usual I guess.

I’m glad other programs are stepping up.

We had top 20 talent with Mike Anderson but he underachieved with them.

Muss brought recruiting up a notch and Cal is getting top 5 classes.
