Slow down big guy, I think the Sun Belt would be a safer bet.

Mediocre in the big12 is the same as garbage in the sec, except more money. Just keep doing what y’all do and celebrate being in the same conference as bama.

At no point in the past 8 years would you have even finished in the top half of the B12. If you are going to be a bottom half team you might as well make BANK to do it.

as an aside, didn't Arkansas and the then Big 8 have "talks" in the late 70's/real early 80's (before SMU mess)?

Yes the rumors were that Frank Broyles was in talks with the BIG 8. However Nebraska blocked Arkansas from joining. I don't know if that was true or not but Arkansas was trying to leave the SWC long before it was on probation.

The SEC would not let the school with a 3rd of the conferences national titles leave like that.

The only way they join the BIG 12 is if Texas becomes an independent. Besides that it will never happen.

ya'll HAVE NEVER WON A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

HOLY SHITE!!!!!!!!!!

You at least won a national title in the one sport you are good in right? Pie eating. I'm sure bertha could have won ya'll a couple.

No national championships.... shut down your athletic department. The SEC is tired of sending you welfare checks.

Wonder why? Might it be that Arkansas bring in no TV. Market and money in general to the conference?

Arkansas was the big prize from the SWC other than Texas. The Big Eight would've much rather have had them than Baylor, Tech or even A&M

that was never true.

the move and expansion of the SEC was the brain child of frank broyles and then Tennessee's althetic director doug dickey who had worked on broyles staff from 57-63. dickey credited broyles with helping him land his first head coaching gig at tennessee.

they brought the idea to then SEC commissioner harvey shchiller sometime in 1988.

while schiller did all the heavy lifting roy kramer has always to credit for the expansion.

broyles never considered a move to the big 8, he'd always felt that the SEC was a better cultural fit over the SWC since all of the schools in the SEC with the exception of vandy where state institutions. unlike the SWC.

Eh we finished 3rd in the West in 2015, probably would have that year. Of course we also lost to Texas Tech that year with Mahomes

We did beat Kansas State in 2015, TCU in 2016, Texas Tech in 2014 and Texas in 2014

What does any of that have to do with Arkansas competing in the Big 12 right now?
