Auburn D was 4th in the West in PPG allowed. Anyone who would have given them a thought to win it all in 2010 would have been laughed out of the rant. I know LSU thinks only themselves and Bama to be contenders, but this isn't a 2 team league. There's 10-12 legit contenders every single year and to say Arkansas wasn't one of them is ignorant. You act as if someone called them favorites to win it all.

As good as the SEC is, it ain't that good. There are anywhere from 4-6 legit contenders in a given year. Only about 3-4 of those can legitimately contend every year.

I'm saying there are 10-12 teams in college football who are legit contenders to play for the national title every year. There are at least 5 from the SEC. Do you understand what a contender to play for a national title means? I never said Arkansas is a favorite to play for and win it. All of you seem to think that we are saying we are favorites to win it all. Nobody is saying that. Other than the obvious favorites, Arkansas is in the second tier to play for all the marbles. Vegas backs this. I understand you hate us and think that this is a two team conference, but SCe, GA and Arkansas are still capable of slipping in. Not likely, but capable.

Texas A&M was #8 in the 2011 preseason rankings as another not likely "favorite". There are teams every year that look good on paper coming into the season but don't have the character to make it through the season.

So you must have had Auburn playing and winning the national title in 2010, correct? You knew without a doubt that LSU would be playing for the title after 2 losses, and a season ending loss to a low ranked Arkansas team, correct? I cannot believe 1 great regular season in the SEC has you thinking you will never lose another conference game to anyone but Alabama. Your arrogance is comical.

There are maybe three contenders for a national title from the SEC in a magical year. That may have been the case in 2011.
And yes, I'm aware of what a "contender" is. I've seen Alabama win two national titles and be on the doorsteps of another one over the last five years.

I haven't been in this thread for the entire argument, but I do know that the SEC isn't nearly as strong as you are trying to suggest. It's by far the best conference in college football, but half the conference is not capable of a national title. I've seen what it's like be a legit contender and pretender. Mike Shula and Nick Saban are night and day in building a championship program.
