Precedent from Rita 2005
Posted by souldog on 10/6/16 at 9:16 pm
Read Mike Slive's exact quote from a USA Today article in September 2005 when Slive moved the Tennessee game to Monday night with Rita coming:
The threat of Hurricane Rita forced Saturday's SEC football showdown between No. 3 LSU and No. 11 Tennessee to be postponed until Monday night, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said Thursday.
The game will be televised from Baton Rouge at 7:30 ET by ESPN2. (Related items: Baton Rouge logisitics getting tougher | Tennessee was prepared to forfeit)
Slive conducted two conference calls with officials from the schools before making the announcement as parts of Louisiana were being evacuated Thursday.
"After reviewing all of the information, I felt this was the best decision for the game. The safety of our student-athletes, coaches and fans is our priority," Slive said. "I understand this puts a burden on LSU and its administration. However, the travel safety issues necessitate this decision."
Hmmm....I wonder why Sankey didn't say this to Foley who was obviously calling the shots.

Question About Local Radio Stations
Posted by souldog on 8/2/16 at 8:38 pm
I just downloaded TuneIn on my Android to listen to stations that are talking about LSU news, etc.
We don't get much LSU talk around here in PA. Which radio stations or radio shows would you recommend for LSU football talk and info, etc?
I pulled up a list of Louisiana stations but wanted to see what your favorites are.
Much appreciated.

What is most exciting is that we have a DC that will evaluate this list and probably come up with a depth chart that will have surprises as to position and place on the depth chart.

re: Favorite Album from The Cult?
Posted by souldog on 12/19/15 at 11:01 pm
Sonic Temple would be my favorite.
One Cult story I have is that I saw them live at the Agora Theatre in 1999. The show was GA and we were at the door first and ran to the stage for front row standing the whole show. The band sounded loud and great. Halfway through the show this young blond girl pushed here way and came up under my arms which were holding the barrier - to not get pushed out of the front row.
This girl pushed her huge tits against my hands and smiled up at me to pretty much say "Do we have a deal?" Of course we did and it stayed that way until the crowd started pushing, and we found ourselves in the middle of a mosh pit. All I remember is trying to not hit the floor and get back to the front row.
That and the fact that Ian and the band sounded terrific...loud and crisp. Even got a pick thrown by Billy Duffy.

Haha I didn't realize that was from this game. I remember thinking after this game and that Sugar Bowl win that we had reached the pinnacle. If someone would have told me then what we would go on to accomplish over the next 10 years I would have never believed them.
Odd that after the two games you mention to start the '02 season we laid an egg against Va Tech to start the season. We did it again in the bowl game against Texas that year. At that time it seemed like maybe we had peaked in '01.
Focus Your Anger On The "Sources"
Posted by souldog on 11/29/15 at 12:40 am
No matter if you think that Miles should be back or not, these so called sources must be ferreted out and made public. There is no place for these type of leaks, and they need to be called out.
I have no respect for Alleva during this, but if the media WAS getting these leaks - THAT has to be made public so those holes can be filled.

lol at those idiots. Especially the guy trying to sell a west upper ticket for $250
Just because you post tickets at a high price doesn't necessarily mean you think that is a fair price, or they will sell. A lot of people who will go to a game will post tix at an inflated price thinking that if someone is willing to pay a high price they'll take the money - if not they still use the tix to go to the game anyways.

well that really wasn't the question. The question is which QB beat a Saban coached team in his time at Alabama
It's pretty much implied that when you ask a question like that.

Truth can be stranger that fiction at times. Just imagine if Jordan Jefferson ends up being the only QB to beat Saban twice during his time at Alabama. It'll be one of those trivia facts brought up on CBS twenty years from now where everybody will be surprised at the answer.
Not as a starter. JJ beat Alabama in 2010 as a starter, and Jarrett Lee started the 9-6 win in 2011.

The map doesn't make sense to me. New York City is 16 hours difference from Australia. Is it possible to be dark in both places at the same time?

As expected. I work with "special needs" adults and I often ask them if their contribution of piss and shite and farting is what they are after. Some smile and say "yeah".
You're an embarrassment, but of course not to the piss balloon platoon. Go root for a junior high team, little man.
Go ahead, say something cute, let me guess - it has to do with pooping or peeing and save us the time.

We are good with each other, aren't we? That corner of Louisiana has always been pro-LSU hasn't it? I've never noticed any real USL-level-little brother bed-wetting. I've always pulled for them, and assumed other LSU fans did too ...and found them to be the most pro-LSU of all the other State schools. We are simpatico, right? Was giving my piss balloon machine the week off, a tragic missed opportunity?
Am I off base here?
"bed wetting", "simpatico", "piss balloon". What are you? 9-years old, or just retarded?

just b/c our founding fathers were hypocrites doesn't mean that's not the meaning behind the 2A
Just exactly what IS the meaning of statements made by "hypocrites" supposed to mean? So, I guess I have to ask: What, pray tell, is the REAL meaning of the 2nd Amendment as written by hypocrites?
quote:
These are just a few quotes from ONE of the Founders. It seems pretty clear to me that they thought armed rebellion against government may one day be necessary.
So, I am assuming that you figure that the Founders were all for guys showing up at the courthouse with arms because they had been "wronged" somehow? Yes, of course these men of The Enlightenment (I probably have to explain that to you), just a figured that if you's don't like what the gubment is doin you just take a bunch of packin locals to the gubment and demand they'ens change?
Really? That was called "The Civil War", and it was fought 150 years ago. I can quote Lincoln until the ol' cows come home, but I'm a guessin' he's not on your top list of 'mericans, right?

This is war. Everybody keeps repeating this. But what kind of war is that? They have weapons, they shoot, and we are empty-handed.
The 2nd Amendment may have been penned with several reasons in mind, but one reason it was NOT written was the taking up of arms against elected officials of the United States government.
Look at the reactions of the Founders to Shay's Rebellion before the Constitution, and the Whiskey Rebellion after the Constitution was signed, to name two, that influenced how those guys felt about the necessity of citizens having guns.
You can make a very strong case for the citizens having guns to defend ourselves against a foreign government, or one that is looking to overthrow the United States government, but the argument of having guns to defend ourselves against our own elected officials was never the intention of the Founders.

Hopefully, by the time the game rolls around in 3+ weeks we will come to realize that in a very short period, around the end of the year, we could see LSU get commitments from numerous high quality players, have our QB for next year get practice time and game time, a 10-win season, and a possible final top 10 finish.
I know, I'm spoiled too, but this is the kind of momentum we need to go into the Spring and Summer with big expectations.
