Only a select few from a recruiting class stick with the university. I’ve lost interest in following hs recruiting knowing that most of who you sign will not be around.

Portal recruiting on the other hand is fun to follow.

This will be much more entertaining than the high school recruiting.

It will ebb and flow.. right now there's an untamed vacuum via the portal, but I suspect that this wild west stage will not last forever.

Changes will lead to equilibrium. HS recruiting will be all the rage again at some point.

I once considered buying a subscription for 247 sports high school recruiting 10 years ago. I don’t even follow high school recruiting now.

There’s no purpose in getting to know kids that have a high potential to leave within a year of signing. The ones who don’t play want to transfer for playing time. The ones who do play want to transfer for a bigger check.

If recruits had to stay 3 years minimum, it would still be highly followed.

Until then, portal recruiting is way better because its quick and fast with no drawn out sagas. Also with transfers you know the kind of player you're signing

My interest has not wavered.

Same as it ever was.

I’m losing it in college football itself. It’s not the game we grew up loving anymore.

There is no reason to follow high school recruiting. These kids certainly don’t care about the university they sign with.

I posed this question a while back: “what association does any player have with the university these days?”

It is literally only the name of the uniform. There is no allegiance, no sweat equity, no love of the school/traditions.

It has become mercenary ball. I found myself pulling for Navy the other day because at least with the service academies (at least from an optics perspective) they are playing for their service institution.

Baws, college sports of the past is absolutely dead. A real shame.

No

The states of Texas, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina and Alabama churn out big time Dlinemen year after year. Those guys don't seem to transfer nearly as much as the skill positions, Olinemen and the back 7 on D.

That is interesting. Is the NIL better for those players?
