Fickell/Aranda/Napier/M.Stoops/Franklin/Campbell/BOB/Kiffin/Petersen…also a lot of talk of Freeze even though some fans don’t realize that’s not happening

All are names that are being discussed a lot on the Rant aka pre-Coaching Changes board

I personally want Campbell, but I think Aranda or Napier are much more realistic/likely

Surprisingly Cristobal not being discussed much but I think he will be a candidate as well

Bill O’Brien is the fanbase will melt candidate

I can remember when LSU went through coach after coach. It became known as a coach's graveyard.

Chris Petersen?

Would be a dream hire but he is not getting back into coaching probably. He's a good man too.

Fickell.... A really tough guy but a real class act, in every respect..... Loyal and intense after spending almost 20 years with two of the best. Watching his team is enjoyable in how well coached and motivated they are for 3*'s.... I am pulling for them because I like Cinderella stories and he deserves it.....

- Campbell doesn't want to leave the rust belt except for NFL
- Will be tough to pull Fickell out of Ohio
- Aranda would take it
- Napier would take it
- Stoops has it made at Kentucky so that is doubtful
- Franklin will be tough to pull out of Pennsylvania
- Kiffin, I honestly have no idea on. Guy is a snake so he might be a good fit
- Petersen is never coming out of retirement, family considerations
- Freeze is also a snake, so he'd be a good fit as well
- Cristobal will be tough to pull out of Oregon

I doubt they get Petersen but what exactly is there to "fix" about LSU specifically?

From an outsiders perspective, it looks like a cultural problem. Football specific, you have players who have shut it down for the season and appear to be thinking only of themselves. Admin wise, you’re dealing with some serious Title 9 accusations. Maybe those have been addressed because I haven’t kept up with those.

I will say that LSU is obviously a great job with great athletes to pull from instate, great facilities, and a history of winning. You will get a great coach if you get rid of O. It’s just not a good fit for Petersen.

Nice analogies....... and I think you are right on just about all of them.... Kiffin and Freeze are indeed snakes.

By all accounts, Peterson is an amazing coach but I think some of his philosophy would rankle an SEC fanbase.

One of his kids had pediatric cancer and I think he valued the importance of work life balance. As in, no sleeping in the office and go home after dark.

He also probably did not want to make some changes to his staff that last year at Washington.

Don't get me wrong, he could definitely turn a program around, but no sure he would fit with SEC mindset.

No, I was just simply stating that LSU is no longer a destination school anymore.

Why??? There is simply no way to predict who will be available after 2023 season.

I doubt he'd like to come to LSU to try and fix a dumpster fire of a program.

Cristobal would be crazy to walk away from all of that sweet Nike money at the dawn of the NIL era.

If Nebraska parts ways with Scott Frost, they should go to Matt Campbell and just tell him to write a number on a piece of paper. If he doesn't, go tell PJ Fleck the same thing.

Franklin would do well down there, although I think he's a better fit for the USC job. He's from Pennsylvania, so he might not leave Penn State.

Aranda's got Baylor looking pretty good in a small sample.

Mark Stoops is a great coach, but he's already got a good gig.

I agree that Freeze is likely out of the running, which is good news for everyone but LSU. It might not last long, but he'd set the woods on fire for a while down there.

Chris Petersen would never take that job and is likely done coaching.

You must not be familiar with him.
