Are they pretty much done calling holding in SEC play?

Our rush end beat the tackle so many times, too many to count almost. I say holding but you know it if you were watching the game.
Im sure we held too at times, im just saying when its blatant, i scream at the TV even when its LSU doing it you know it needs to be called lol.

I feel they call it 1-2 times a game on each team. They could call it a lot more often but that would get annoying. Our RT got away with a pretty bad one in the 2nd half

It’s only called if it turns a defender or you see the jersey separate from the pads at this point. Poor Will Anderson was bear hugged all night against Mizzou. I don’t notice when Bama holds, though I’m sure it happens and is a rallying cry of a particular fanbase here.
What isn’t debatable is that Alabama is dead last in the NCAA over the last 6 seasons in holding calls against. Meaning opposing offenses are called for holding fewer times against Alabama‘s defense than every other team in the county. That’s an odd stat to me when you consider the talent that’s poured through there, and why I don’t mind the tears about “bammers holding all the time.” It more than evens out.
Fact is we have incompetent refs in college and professional football. You’ve got guys in their fifties and sixties trying to keep up with elite athletes that have only gotten bigger faster and stronger in the last two decades. They can’t do it, and they aren’t going to throw a flag every play. Only the egregious fouls get called- that and the hard hits

I hate how penalties slow the game but more holding penalties need to be called.

Do you have any type of link to back up this "non debatable"statement. Never heard this.

Myles Garrett got held on EVERY single play in college. It’s undisputed

I think college has just gone more in line with the NFL. Offensive penalties stall drives and deter scoring points. I feel like you see more penalties called on the defense now because offense sells. I'm trying to remember if there were any holding calls on either team Saturday and I can't think of any off the top of my head. I seem to recall it being a pretty clean game with really only procedural/pre-snap penalties called for the most part, which is expected the first game of the year. That and I believe 1 intentional grounding call on Costello

It’s every game now. And if you’re the higher ranked team they call it even less. No one should be surprised by the lack of hold calls by now.

It seemed like they weren't calling anything last week. Maybe the conference put out the word that it was going to be so sloppy anyway to just let them play?

They could pretty much call holding every other play if they wanted. But then people would bitch about all the flags.

Here's a thread I've never seen before, a L1U fan complaining about holding.

It's actually quite possible that they are using the first game or so to coach/warn the players before they start throwing more flags.

What's obvious is that LSU should have tried holding more. You guys gave up 7 sacks to a defense that features 2 stars and walkons.

He made the statement as fact.He can do the research and I've never heard of any data base that keeps track of every opposing teams holding calls against a particular teams over the "last 6 years"

Go back and watch LSU - Auburn last year. LSU loses if the refs called holding, even a little.

Well, it's a shitty job.

I’d love to see this data to if accurate

Apparently Florida is exempt from holding calls. Their OL holds like a desperate woman.
