I think he's referencing a close game we has vs Nicholl's St at home in Kirby's first year coaching in 2016 (almost 8 years ago) Yes that was embarrassing and I think we went 7-5 that year with losses to Vandy and GT. Speaking of that Vandy loss, it points out the fact Vandy has beaten UGA more recently than Tenn has. Oof.

The defense is almost going to have to regress given how good they were last season.
But to fall to something like an 8-4 season (or worse) takes more than just losing talent to the draft. It requires a certain level of incompetence from the head coach.

Georgia has outscored Tennessee 207 to 64 the past 5 seasons.
Hell... Stetson Bennett has outscored Tennessee 85 - 38 the past 2 seasons. The 2021 loss was even worse than the 2020 one.

You could be right. I may not see Georgia win another national championship in my lifetime (I'm 63). Then again, with the way Kirby is recruiting, Georgia may win 3 or 4 or 6 more while I'm still above ground. I can state with a fair amount of certainty that Georgia under Smart isn't going to lose to Purdue in the Music City Bowl. I don't see a future where Georgia is Tennessee bad.
