Annual reminder that "Anonymous SEC Football Coaches" can mean anyone on staff, not necessarily the Head Coaches.

For all we know, these could all be hot takes from Grad Assistants. Saban could've gotten Butch to do this for him.

Well I'm sure it's gonna take them like a few months to actually put it on the right direction, then the actual healing process can begin.

I know he is young and will heal faster but I shattered mine in my 30s and it was over a year before I quit limping and it quit swelling.

It's not just the break that gets an ankle, assuming his was bad enough to have pins implanted (my ankle has three) but it's also the pathology that accompanies the break ... the tissue damage.

Once you get the cast off and start rehab your ankle basically starts from scratch with a severe sprain. A sprain that some say is worse thsn the break itself and compounded by atrophy while it was in the cast. You've also got to tear the scar tissue away from the bone where the surgery was done because it's skin on bone on your ankle.

Nothing can prepare you for that and it is unlike any other injury because it's a high torque joint ... and rehab is one helluva painful bitch and it doesn't take much to reinjure it if you push it too fast.

Nine months may seem like a long time but for at least six of those months you are still dreading getting out of bed every morning and having the blood rush to that ankle when you put your feet on the floor. I had a knee and hip done as well and both of those were easy compared to the ankle injury.

Fitz has got his work cut out for him to be ready to go in time.

I destroyed mine (it’s now pinned back together) and broke my leg not quite two years ago.
Like you, it was a good year after surgery before I was walking w/o limping.
I deal with discomfort from the scar tissue everyday.
Depending on the severity of the break, it could easily take 9 months.

Is this the thread where people guess what head coach said it even though it never says head coach in the article?

I have read those every year and I always find them to be total nonsense with no insight at all into the states of various programs.

Athlon always seems to state the obvious and report something that is totally inaccurate.

Rubbish.

I don't know that Florida has an abundance of talent but we know Mullen can coach.

That's the biggest question mark (Maybe only question mark?)for Auburn this year.

I’m not sure about our RB situation.

Plus Gus normally takes 3-4 games before he knows what is going on.

My buddy destroyed his playing football in high school (he was the end opposite me so I was on the field when it happened), had a couple of pins put in it, and never played again. Granted, he had nothing like Fitz’s talent so he wasn’t working for a scholarship (or in Fitz’s case the NFL), so there was certainly a motivation gap, but the guy is a 6A TX HS varsity defensive coordinator now, so he always loved football and didn’t quit because he didn’t care - his ankle was just honestly never right again.

Very not true. A&M is basically ignored by the media and the consensus expectation is that we won’t be good this year. So he has low expectations this year and a lot less pressure than FSU due to A&M being a lower profile program with no winning history. He’s going to find the media to be not harsh at all compared to FSU where natties are expected.
