He has dismissed a pitcher from the team for breaking team rules (As if we need to thin out an already thin pitching staff with 8 out from injuries). Our all-american Jake Mangum was suspended a game for breaking curfew. Rumor has it another guy(Eli Marrero) got the boot but I can't back that up as of yet.

I do know Eli was in Andy's dog house for a while. He and Jake Mangum are good kids, especially Mangum. I wonder if LSU fans can tell me more about Andy Cannizaro since we got him from you guys. Maybe he is laying down a foundation early in his head coaching job at Msu. No idea. He seems like he don't take any bs for sure. We can practically write this season off as it already is/was.

Was hard to lose Andy. Met him once, great guy. Seems like he's setting a standard and holding players to a strict policy, which is how it should be. I think he will end up doing great. The guy is a hell of a recruiter.

He is indeed a great recruiter. To be honest, he came into a horrible situation with 12 players signing pro contracts off last years team and now all these bizzare pitching injuries etc. If any MSU fan starts to discuss replacing him within two years or so I am going to go off on those idiots.

As you should! I think it'll take Andy a few years to adjust to everything. Has the SEC experience, just not the responsibility as head coach. Once he starts filling in his own recruiting classes, I think State will be a very competitive team. He will only get better as he progresses through seasons. State has every resource for him to thrive.

I have heard that he is looking to assemble his own staff. He kept people on board when he came here but now he has had some time to look elsewhere to bring some others in.

I agree with your comments, it's going to take a few years to rebuild this program. Because of limited scholarships in baseball it's harder to rebuild as fast as say , football etc.

I have also met Andy, great guy and boy does he have a passion for the game. He can talk forever, even with a fan about the game. I knew Lsu fans loved the guy but until I met him in person I had no idea just how great a guy and how sharp a man he is.

Talk to him 10 minutes and you feel as if you know his insides. Nothing fake about the guy. I do know this from some of the Msu players, they absolutely love the guy. We are lucky to have him for sure!

Tell him to stop the pitching coach from using weighted balls with the pitchers.
Doctor said that's what lead to one of the pitching injuries.

They will. It will be same ones that wanted Mullen to be fired.

Been wondering about Elih. I know he was really struggling behind the plate and batting but I don't think I have seen him since the 2nd weekend. I asked if he was hurt or just got beaten out by Skelton and Lovelady the person I asked had not heard anything. I know when Cohen signed him he thought he had All American written all of him. But I never saw it. He is still listed on the roster but I don't know if that means anything.

He was part of a very structured high school program in a good, competitive LA area; was part of the best teams Tulane ever had, a team that sent Skip into retirement; played MLB as a Yankee; worked as a scout, and did well; instantly made LSU an extremely better hitting team in a short amount of time...all that to say...MSU has the best young coach in the SEC in my opinion.

Eli is actually a GREAT catcher. Now, what is going on with him and Andy I do not know. But the kid is a stud catcher.

That was Wes Johnson our pitching coach from last year. He is now the pitching coach at Arkansas and if i'm not mistaken they already have 3 pitchers out for the year with TJ

Word is Marrero physically threatened an academic advisor and was dismissed.

Being a head coach in the SEC is not easy.
He has to learn on the job now.
He may have been better served remaining an assistant but he will eventually get it and be a solid coach.

It's a lot different when you are a recruiting/hitting coach and you can be the good guy all the time.

When you are the head coach you have to make the tough decisions that may not always put you in a favorable light.

If I was given a head coaching job at a school like Miss St I definitely would want my own staff but the timing kind of prevented that from happening.

Good kids that don't follow rules well.

He's eliminating the complacency installed by Cohen for years.

Re the comment that AC was part of the team that sent Skip into retirement, I hope that was being off the cuff & not meant as the real thing. Skip retired when Skip wanted to retire. But as for AC, he could not turn down the Moo St. job, those positions do not come open very often. But as much as CPM liked him & knew he would lose him eventually, he did sound surprised that AC was going to be a HC in the SEC that fast. Point being, he sounded like he thought AC, like any young coach, needed more experience. And yes, he is a good recruiter. But don't factor out that he was wearing LSU across his chest when out recruiting. That had a lot to do with his success as well.

He was a scout for the Yankees. That has more weight to the minds of HS kids then the letters across his chest.
