Set aside whether he should be charged as an accessory. Not our call and who knows the challenges the DA thought were present.

In my view, the text message is key. He was sent a text that a friend was obviously in some sort of conflict at 1AM and said friend wanted his gun. To me there is no way to circumvent the conclusion that Miller was at minimum wildly irresponsible as a result. And surely there is basis for action on that front, where perhaps but for his recklessness that woman isn't dead. What that action looks like - who knows. I'm just trying to identify a baseline most can agree with.

Yesterday there was discussion about whether he was blindly led into it (as in, "hey man I left my gun in your car can you get it back to me") and we now know that wasn't the case. Nor is there any plausible argument for a self-defense motive that negates the recklessness - any reasonable person tells a friend to leave or call the cops. Bringing someone a gun so they can potentially engage in a voluntarily armed confrontation on the street - whether the friend felt threatened or not - isn't any better morally.

The bottom line is why was Brandon Miller not suspended after knowing his teammate wanted his gun for some type of escalation. Brandon Miller didn't know whether or not it was a self defense or murder issue, but Brandon still used poor judgement to bring his teammate the gun. Since it ended up with a mom murdered then Brandon should be punished for his poor actions that night which would be removed from the school.

It's unfortunate that Brandon Miller got caught up in this, but he made the poor choice to associate himself with low lifes off the court. Brandon created his own problem and he will probably settle with the girl's family out of court to avoid a jury and additional information of being released.

Given the time, text, and location isn’t unreasonable to grant zero culpability in this.

He knew there was conflict and brought a gun. That's more than enough to indict. Alabama DA just doesn't want to. That's all there is to it.

A fair DA would've sent this to a grand jury. That's what we've done in Knoxville with serious charges.

An entirely reasonable take. I hope Chicken can offer some sort of poster relocation/protection for you and your family.

Even if he didn't think they were going to murder someone but they were just going to intimidate someone with a gun, I would still at least suspend him for a decent period of games. That is horrible decision making

If the text circulating today is true, there is absolutely zero reason for anyone to support the actions of BM. ZERO.

Maybe he skates legally.

But he supplied a weapon to someone that sent a text saying bring me my gun because I am pissed at someone(paraphrasing).

Frankly, I am astonished at how Bama fans are defending him. It is disgusting.

Agreed and that's at the heart of my reasoning. I just don't see how anyone escapes some punishment (meaning from the school) given that fact.

On the other side of the coin, the DA in a lot of places wouldn't have even thought of charging Miller and would have brought some weak arse charges against the actual murderer.

I’m sure Brandon Miller knew that his buddy wanted the gun to
give to someone else to murder a woman.

Pretty clear in the text message.

She is the deputy DA.

The DA is a male and is an Auburn BS grad and a Bama law grad.

More than enough there to charge and indict. As mentioned, Tuscaloosa DA doesn't want to because he's a basketball star and they want the banners.

He knew there was conflict. He provided a loaded gun to the soon-to-be murderer on demand. And his car helped block the victim in to prevent escape.

Did he know someone was about to get shot when he provided the loaded gun?

Did he know he was blocking the victim with his car, preventing escape and further helping commit the murder?

I don't know the answer to those questions.

But they're damn sure worthy of sending to a jury.

The total lack of action on the university and the prosecutors' parts is disgusting.

What part did you not understand from my post? Brandon Miller knew it was some type of escalation where his teammate wanted his gun. Brandon Miller is the one that made the poor choice to bring him the gun without asking more questions.

Let a grand jury decide. It's really is that simple. If there's no evidence or not enough to show wrongdoing they won't indict. If there is enough evidence to charge, he'll still have a chance in court to prove his innocence.

Sure. That would require immediate suspension though.

That is not the definition that I have seen.
