Yes, SEC leadership knew what it was doing here. Need to look long term and not just at football. But recall that Missouri won the East for two straight years.
In addition to being competitive in women's sports, on the men's side, Missouri basketball has a solid tradition. The new coach has done some top notch recruiting in a short time.
Also, Missouri helps SEC exposure in the Midwest.

Unlike in the South, MIZZOU was recently the heart of racial tensions which resulted in a STRIKE.

DECADES OF RACIAL TENSION
It's not preconceived, it's documented. There are more racists in states like Missouri than in traditional Southern states. If you lived in the South, you would know that everyone is not in the KKK and the majority of people have no issues with someone's race because of their upbringing.
