They shouldn’t even be talking about the Championship until they fix the NIL with no restrictions or contracts problem.

Exactly. I opened the thread expecting to see some common sense suggestions addressing the ongoing portal/NIL/etc insanity.

Instead, its just more money grabbing nonsense.

College athletics - especially football - will be a shell of itself within ten years.

I stopped short of saying it’s dying but in reality, I wouldn’t be surprised.

This is all about job security for them. Increasing the field gives them a better chance of making the field and thus keeping their jobs.

I don't think anyone in a position of power is going to be concerned so long as tv viewership continues to increase.

Even the vast majority of posters here complaining about the state of college football will still tune in every Saturday this Fall.

A fricking awful idea. We need minimum participation.

For the sake of the argument ...

Committee picks NCAA M basketball tournament, now everybody gets in and it has gone to the crapper

Committee picks CFP for football, now everybody gets in and it has gone to there crapper

I sense a trend

Deck chairs on the Titanic until they fix NIL and the portal.

True. But how many of us are still paying attention to recruiting and spring football compared to just five years ago? As Josh Pate said on his show a week or two ago, viewership is always the last thing to go.

While that may be true (I honestly have no idea), unfortunately, that's the only change that would cause the powers that be to try to "save" CFB.

Conferences of 10 teams playing nine conference games with each champion getting into the playoff would be a fix.

I can’t believe fans want to play a game in mid August when school isn’t even in and it’s 105 outside.
