They shouldn’t even be talking about the Championship until they fix the NIL with no restrictions or contracts problem.

Exactly. I opened the thread expecting to see some common sense suggestions addressing the ongoing portal/NIL/etc insanity.

College athletics - especially football - will be a shell of itself within ten years.

This is all about job security for them. Increasing the field gives them a better chance of making the field and thus keeping their jobs.

I don't think anyone in a position of power is going to be concerned so long as tv viewership continues to increase.
Even the vast majority of posters here complaining about the state of college football will still tune in every Saturday this Fall.

True. But how many of us are still paying attention to recruiting and spring football compared to just five years ago? As Josh Pate said on his show a week or two ago, viewership is always the last thing to go.

Conferences of 10 teams playing nine conference games with each champion getting into the playoff would be a fix.

Pretty soon it will 32 teams..then 64...it will get beyond insane soon. It already has...just imagine I told you teams pay players openly, we have a huge playoff system now, and such...you would laugh and cry at the same time somehow.

Dying? Ypu guys are funny. Having 24 fanbases buying tickets and filling up stadiums instead of 4 teams is not a dying sport.
How bout this - when your team is hosting a first round playoff game backup your words with an empty stadium. But, of course, your packed stadium will prove you guys are all wrong. Your fanbase will eat it up. I know if my team makes the playoffs I’ll be there.
