We made Jordan Jefferson look like an All American there in 2010.. I can see Whataberger with a career day, young corners biting on pump fakes, fake punts, strange penalties, clock malfunctions, UFOs, streakers, freak injuries, and Les Miles picking his nose as Russell Shepard completes his first pass ever, a Hail Mary, to win on an extra play after LSU is penalized on the first final play. I'm not sure how that could happen, but I know it might.

Key to the game for LSU: Ugly this game up as much as possible. Lots of clock stoppage, no one can get into any kind of rhythm, run, short passes, ugly the game up some more, have players fake injuries, send wave after wave after AJ McCarron, win the special teams battle.

Bottom line: make it a Les Miles game, get a special teams play, play field position, and wait for 'Bama to screw up.

I do however expect Bama to force Mett to beat them by showing him all kinds of pre-snap looks and combinations he's likely never seen before

Thats really funny considering that Mett doesn't recognize the simplest of blitzes. Put a safety on the corner, he'll never know he's there. Pre-snap looks and combinations will not confuse him. He won't even notice.

JJ was the key to LSU winning last year whether they ever admitt it or not.

Jefferson sparks LSU in win vs Bama LSU only rushed for 12 yards in 11 plays with Lee in the game.

With Jefferson 136 yards rushing. He avoided sacks and scrambled for 30 yards+ as well.

Mett is less mobile than Lee and a worse passer than Jefferson.

Let me rephrase that: Do you really think he's going to be good enough to beat Alabama?

relapse98 --> Are you aware that LSU beat bama last year with their (then) backup quarterback?

Dumbest statement on this thread. LSU has 3 first round picks on the DL

And then you looked at the OL lining up across from them. Warmack/Jones are going in the first round. Fluker's stock may be dropping, but Cyrus is still considered a first rounder out of everyone in his draft class.

148 yards, and not all of them came out of the damn option

Indeed. However, look at the stats by your RBs in that game. Remember Ford was the Option Back at the time. Watching the tape also helps you see that LSU doesn't run effectively on Bama without the option last season.

GotC :

Kenny Hilliard - 2 Carries for 2 Yards

Alfred Blue - No Stats

Spencer Ware - 16 Carries for 29 Yards

Michael Ford - 11 Carries for 72 Yards

Most of Ford's yards came on the option.

lsu runs the option with spencer ware at qb now. You just haven't seen it yet.

Not worried. We've seen Ware taking snaps at QB, we remember last year. We will spend enough time making sure we know how to defend it. We have more speed on D this year, and enough starters/players back from last year to not need much practice to stop the option. Plus Ware is slower than JJ, if I had to guess anyway.

I think Bama wins by 17 but don't get ahead of yourself gump. Tide has only been down for 15 seconds all season. I quick strike and a turnover early wouldn't panic Saban but you don't know how the players will react in that environment.

You asked if we would have any advantage, I think that would be the only scenario. There are no moral victories in this matchup but I just want to be competitive.

JJ did not have great speed. Not in the least. That said, Ware isn't a burner, either. I'd be surprised if he wasn't faster, though.

Nice stats y'all! I did a bad job of explaining it but JJ was huge for LSU when playing Alabama. It's TOUGH just running at Alabama and with no passing game good luck. This is my point...Alabama will have bad matchups for LSU this time.

Never said he did. Just that I thought Ware may be slower than JJ. Either way, if LSU comes out with the intent of running the option it'll get ugly fast and the Tiger Rant will be demanding Miles is fired.

Are you suggesting that LSU would have lost @ Towson? Or @ USCe ?

Yeah LSU is a completely different team in their dome... Wait that was the thought last year.

Alabama is pretty much the same team at home that they are on the road or a neutral site... dominant.

The offense that started for Alabama on 1/9 we lost Trent Richardson and Maze, Smelly, B. Gibson. We've added Yeldon/Cooper. How can you objectively compare LSU's defense (no brockers, no claiborne, no mathieu) and think that this time since they are at home they will perform better against Alabama? Our offense has improved from last year your defense hasn't.

I would be concerned if your offense was improved but I've seen what mediocre defenses do to it, not to mention what UF did to it (you only completed 11 passes against them).

Saban figured you guys out over a 5 week span last year he didn't forget that. Why do you objectively think this game will look anything like 11/5?

I can see it sometimes and sometimes I can't. How do I fix it?
