Ohio State going down yesterday was a key component of any possibility of this 2 loss scenario as it likely killed any chance of a second big 10 team candidate being viable for the playoff.

I don't know. You can't say that with certainty. Is it far fetched? Sure.
But if LSU wins out (highly unlikely IMO, but possible), they are currently ranked 19th(ish) and would finish out the season beating 4 ranked teams, including #1 and another possible top 10 team.
That would vault LSU undoubtedly into the top 10 and who knows what happens to other teams the rest of the way.
It's possible if you look at it objectively.
