LHN was created before a&m bolted in 2012, that was one thing in 2011 that tipped to move east.

Pac 12 in discussion with Apple,Amazon and Netflix for new TV deal.

It expires in '24 and I could see em pulling the trigger for partial TV rights because they're pretty desperate for revenue

For the life of me, I cant figure out why the NFL isnt perusing bring its entire media deal in house on its on streaming network. The possibilities are endless:

They kill the network telecasts and self produce games and retain and control all ad dollars, immediately gutting ESPN's value while drastically increasing the value of their own NFL Network.
Geofencing would allow your local game free on any device.
Tiered premium access would allow ala-carte packages to all games, multiple camera angle selection, home radio broadcast, all games on demand, red zone channel, etc Offer discounts/free access for team season ticket holders, which would help address dropping attendance.
MOST importantly, start their own FanDuel/Draft Kings type franchise, their own traditional sports book, and the ability to gamble on the outcome of individual plays in real time. They would make more money than God.

Bumping because I just heard Notre Dame's home opener vs. Akron will be exclusively on Peacock.

LINK.

NBCSN is showing NASCAR, but that race isn't even scheduled to begin until 5 hours after the Notre Dame game. PGA is the Safeway Open (US Open is the following weekend) and will be on the Golf Channel. Can't find what OTA NBC is showing that Saturday.

Obviously NBC is using the ND game to get subscribers to Peacock.

Just seems that way because all the highlights on the channel are pre 2000

It's not really an alternative take....it's what happened. All of this is about getting more eyeballs via streaming. The cable model of 10 yrs ago is already outdated.

Note Dame just announced at least one game is going to be on Peacock+ this season.

Who cares if the have the LHN even in the SEC. What is their content gonna be? It will be gone but none of it matters as they aren't a very good football program.

They play "highlights" of getting the crap kicked out of them in the 1st few SEC seasons? Fans crying in the stands. 50,000 opposing fans displaying Horns Down everywhere?

#hornsdownsecnation

Not gonna be much to highlight for the last 10 years and upcoming 10 years.

More likely old footage of Vince Young and Mack Brown from the glory days. Or maybe pole stripping footage of Coach Banks new stripper wife after he decided to leave his wife with 4 kids. What grace!

"WE'RE BACK!"

ESPN chose to pay Texas $15 million per year for the LHN because:

1) It was a hell of a lot cheaper to pay Texas off than to have to outbid FOX for the new 16 team PAC.

2) It gave them a “playground” to figure out how
to create The SEC Network.. a trial run

3) Did I mention that it saved ESPN a shitload of money? Everyone says that LHN is a money pit.. but that “loss leader” saved them a ton of money.

It’s honestly as simple as that.
