I don’t know much about talking points as far as job rank goes. But imo, the one best selling point for LSU is the state produces some of the best high school players in the country. Maybe not the most, but damn those it does produce are great players. Saban knew this and recruited Louisiana heavily when at Bama.
So there is great potential at the job. Kirby finally exploited Georgia’s potential. Spurrier and Meyer did it at Florida. The right coach can exploit the potential of Louisiana the way Saban did. So I hope y’all get a bum.

ESPN has instructions to fan the flames of the fan base that produces the most clicks. LSU is notorious for producing clicks.

Gosh, just look at Tiger Droppings. It's hand down the biggest college sports message board

Hysterical that you’re too stupid to actually believe this.

DAN LANNING laughed at Bama and now you’re stuck with a 8/9 win per season coach now. FACTS

It’s funny how blood pressure gets so high when fans just think about the King of the SEC hiring whoever they want to start a dynasty in another sport. Ohhhhh isn’t it great to be a Tiger! GEAUX

It was probably even true, thirty or forty years ago ... when basically all recruiting was regional and LSU was the only game in town there in the swamps.

Now, in the age of nationwide recruiting, NIL and the unlimited portal? Nah. Poverty, location and fan entitlement come into play and drop it by at least a dozen slots.

JIMBO!!! I think it may have been Lanning that also turned them down. Some big name anyway. BK was not even close to being first choice.

Actually Jimbo was all set to be the coach. I think the governor decided to save Miles job during a game and they called off hiring Jimbo. After Miles was fired a few games into the following season, they circled back to Jimbo and he changed his mind and got that huge extension going off memory.

And shite happens, didn’t bama have to go to their 7th choice this last go round…

If you’re behind Florida for job prospects then you aren’t king of the SEC. And I don’t even have to mention other programs ahead of LSU to make your statement completely untrue.

What did I say. Doesn’t always mean the coach leaves but at least the name of the school gets them in the door with any coach. Sark was offered the Bama job too and he declined. He did listen though because he had respect for the school.

The difference between Bama, Ohio St, Michigan, etc, etc is that coaches know they can sustain long term success at these schools. Coaches grew up hearing these names. They know what has been done there and want to write their names in the pages of the history of these schools. LSU showed up 20 yrs ago won a 3 titles and now you guys think you belong. LSU needs to build 1 dynasty at least before you guys start acting like LSU is all that. Hell Miami has at least owned 1 decade. LSU hasn’t even done that much. LSU has won 3 titles since when the 50’s? Congrats that’s not even half of what Bryant or Saban did just by themselves at Bama. Let’s see LSU own a decade then come back and tell me that it belongs mentioned in the same breath as some of the schools I just named. Kirby is one title short of having what LSU has won the last 20 years. You guys can’t even go back to back. Yet some of you delusional idiots wanna pound the ole chest acting like you are king dick of the Sec. You ain’t so stop acting like it.

I think Deboer was always the target but they made a few coaches say no. I don’t think they ever thought Lanning or Sark was coming but they at least extended the offer.

LSU is a Top Ten job, IMO. Whether LSU is top 5 or top 3 or top 7 is immaterial.

LSU has everything you need to be successful: lots of talent within 250 miles of BR; huge fan support that cares about winning; topnotch facilities; huge amounts of money ready for NIL (and buyouts!) In the 21st century, LSU Football has won 3 NC's, tied with Ohio State and second nationally only to Nick Saban's Alabama. And LSU won TWO of those titles with head coaches that are average at best.

Any observer can see this if that person is not eaten up in dislike for LSU. And losing big to #3 ranked Aggies does not change that.

Op your team just had their arse handed to them in a home game. Might be wise to lighten up on talking shite for a while.

I’m not saying LSU can’t win. I’m not saying they can’t be successful or be competitive with anyone. All I’m saying is LSU doesn’t have the background of the schools I mentioned. Yet we have some LSU fans on here acting like it’s the best job in the history of college football. That’s being disrespectful to the history of the game. All those schools have earned the right to be considered the giants of the sport. I hate to admit that ND, Ohio State, Michigan, etc etc are giants of the sport. It takes my nerves to admit that. They have earned that right though by being highly successful over the decades. LSU can earn a spot there but not yet. It takes building a dynasty or 2 to even be mentioned at the top with those schools. Sure LSU has money and talent. They have everything you need. But so does a lot of places. It’s about more than money, resources, or even tiles. It’s about winning so much that the name of the school makes people take notice. LSU has been as good as anyone the last 20-25 yrs but they have a long way to go yet to be mentioned with the kings of the sport.
