The only so-called power conference team to go unbeaten in the BCS/CFP era and be ranked similarly low the next season was Auburn — twice. After going 13-0 in 2004, the Tigers started 2005 ranked 16th. After Cam Newton led Auburn to the 2010 national title, the Newton-less Tigers were ranked No. 23 to begin 2011.

Congrats to Mark Emmert's Alabama Crimson Tide

I mean...since 2008, Alabama has finished in the following positions:
2008: #6
2009: #1
2010: #10
2011: #1
2012: #1
2013: #7
2014: #4
2015: #1
2016: #2
2017: #1
While it's not a Top 5 finish every single year,
No, its not. Which is the entire point.

And you also need to look at Florida State's run in its context. At that point in time, the ACC was a joke of a conference.
Yes, but they still managed to play a very tough schedule each year mostly due to playing a difficult OOC slate... such as annual games against Miami and Florida. They played Notre Dame a handful of times (such as the '93 #1 vs. #2 clash) as well as several strong Nebraska teams, etc.

Even before Alabama under Saban, I was a huge fan and admirer of Alabama’s success and tradition as it was very much similar to what Oklahoma has achieved.
OU would be right up there if they didn’t choke off so many championships in the 2000s. They’d have 12 total championships.
03,04,08,16,18.
They’d be a dynasty too. Makes you wonder would Bama and Saban be considered so highly if stoops and OU could win these.

I went to the Alabama/OU game in 2002 out in Norman and had a ball. One of the best experiences I ever had.

Alabama also continues its run of being ranked AP number one at some point in the season for 11 straight years. The previous high was Miami in the late 80 early 90s of 7 straight years. Probably a feat never to be challenged. And Bama has been in legitimate contention for the title til the end of the regular season in each of those years except 2010 and even then it was until the LSU loss in November. So, it's not like those annual number one rankings were just based on reputation then Bama went away.

Me too and their fans treated us well. They clearly respected our tradition and vice versa. They way it should be when two blue bloods face off.

Comparing titles is BS
FSU had God knows how many 1 loss regular seasons and only once got to play for a MNC one time(93). Alabama literally has played for a MNC every time they have a 1 loss season.

Play them in a championship game and you'll feel differently.

And there’s a reason why LSU fans are known to be the worst.

They had 1 loss regular seasons in 98 and 2000 and lost the title game both seasons. They also lost the title game in 96 after an undefeated regular season.

Uh...not true at all. They also played for it in 1998 and 2000 as a one loss team. It was also the luck of the draw. More teams ran the table back then.
In 1987, Oklahoma and Miami finished the season undefeated.
In 1988, Notre Dame and West Virginia finished the regular season undefeated.
In 1992, Alabama and Miami finished the regular season undefeated.
In 1994, Nebraska and Penn State finished the regular season undefeated.
In 1997, Nebraska and Michigan finished the regular season undefeated.

This is slightly true but FSU had plenty of chances at more titles. They won 2 title games under Bowden and lost like 3 of them. Bowden got his shot at winning a boat load of titles but as others have pointed out, FSU some years was buoyed by a weak ACC.

He might have meant mythicals..98 began the national championship game so it was no longer mythical

A 1-loss FSU team played for the title in 93, 98, and 00.

Then he would be completely wrong. The Bowl Coalition began in 1992. It only remained "mythical" because the Rose Bowl refused to participate in it until the advent of the BCS in 1998.
